Let's see about that: 29-0 was the Worst Beatdown by a Top 5 team in the 44 yrs since such records were kept. Historic gap.

3 ballgames don't define where a program stands. It would be incredibly difficult for anyone to argue that LSU hasn't improved. If you admit that LSU is improving as a program then it stand to reason that the gap is closing.

If you don't admit that the program is improving then nothing anyone can say will change your mind and that's ok to. The world needs close minded people too.

I watched us lose to 2 other teams that both had first year head coaches in “rebuilding years” that had less talent than LSU.

If Bama was our only loss each year, the “we can’t beat Bama” argument has merit. The problem is we are still losing to other teams we should be beating.

Well, in the UF game and the A&M game LSU's loss was pretty much on the Defense as we had leads late and didn't make a stop. Especially in the A&M game which was pretty much stolen from LSU. But, live in your fairy tale world of manipulating reality to suit your agenda which is obviously anti-Orgeron. I know what the truth is and I just grateful that fans who are unrealistic are not running things at LSU.

we are?? How, exactly, are we doing that?

True. That was a Saban team who won the NC the next year.

Tied for third with Kentucky and Florida with 10-3 records and we lost to Florida. Finished in a four way tied for third place in the SEC with Kentucky, Florida and A&M and we lost to Florida and A&M.

Sounds good when you say "tied for the third best", not so good when you realize that we lost to the other teams that were tied with us, minus the one team we didn't play.

I don't have major complaints about O other than E as OC and maybe keeping Giles as PR. Neither made any sense whatsoever.

But making hollow excuses does nothing for me. If it was only Bama we were losing to (and being competitive) since Ed became HC, you might have an argument. But it's not just them we're losing to. IOW, what O is doing/accomplishing invites scrutiny.

Take for example QB. He 'inherited' Etling, Harris, and McMillan (and Narcisse and Brennan as recruits) in '16. But if you're going to assert that "had NO QB ready to compete at the SEC level," then I would point out Etling was certainly ready in '16 and '17 AND maybe O should've exercised some forethought w.r.t. Brennan in '17. That was Canada's vision. But O torpedoed that.

And much of this is compounded by O's vacillating about offense style, i.e., prefer a spread, a pro.

Err, no.
LSU has played Bama for decades and we've been far less competitive before than we are right now.

Ben: why are you laughing?

We've lost our last 4 games to Bama by double digits, haven't scored in 2 of those games, and got blown out by 29 in our latest game at home, getting outgained 576-196.

We're nowhere close to Alabama right now.

see, I disagree with this.

When your goal is to compete for championships and playoff spots, finishing tied for 3rd in the conference isn't nearly good enough.

Did you watch the game on 11/3? You realize we didn't score a single point, right? At home. For the second time in 3 years

Did you watch the season and how LSU finished.

Are you talking about a 7 point win over a 2-10, 0-8 SEC Arkansas team, a win against a 2-11 Rice team and a 7 ot loss to A&M, where the offense only scored 24 points in regulation? The bowl win was pretty good over a decent Mid-Major UCF team.

10-3 and a #6 final ranking are pretty good. Congrats to o, his coaches and his team. But none of that shows we're "closing that gulf", as you phrased it, against Alabama.

LSU scores 19 points Vs Florida, what more could the defense ask for?

Maybe I said it wrong, maybe you misunderstood the point I was trying to make.

Mickey (the poster I was replying too) said "we finished the season tied for the third best overall record in the SEC" like we had really accomplished something great. I personally disagree with that.

I was trying to point out to him that, yeah, we finished tied for third, but guess what, we lost to Florida and to A&M. Two of the teams that we were tied with as far as SEC records are concerned.

So, we were really the third best 5-3 team in the SEC. That was the point I was trying to make.

19 points is enough when you have a lead late in the 4th quarter but the Defense doesn't make a stop.

Of course you don't consider playing defense with the lead as part of the game. Lol.

According to you LSU finished #11 in the last poll that counted and the other polls don't mean shite?

Well, the poll you are talking about was before the Bowls and in that case Bama is number 1 and the arse whippin' Clemson put on Bama didn't matter?

In that same poll UCF is number 8 and yes LSU is 11. So I suppose LSU won the Fiesta Bowl and it didn't matter to you and UCF is still number 8?

In fact, in that Poll UGA is ahead of Texas and I guess in your mind none of the bowls matter?

Back here on Earth, LSU won the Fiesta Bowl and actually ended up number 6 and the 2nd highest ranked SEC team with UGA and UF tied for number 7.

Some of you just like to twist reality or outright lie about situations because you just don't like Orgeron and only 1 game matters in a 1 game season to nitwits like yourself. Reality doesn't matter to unrealistic people like you. Have a great day.

Well we also had the same number of losses as the second team, UGA, they just had one more win, and we beat them, but I guess that doesn’t matter. We finished as the second highest ranked team in the SEC. To me, that shows progress and a program that is improving.

People keep pretending we took that lead late in the fourth

It was over 11 minutes to go. Florida got the ball back like 3 times.

We got The ball back a few time after they scored.

Selective memory.

The offense had the ball back 3 more times and we punted threw a pick 6 and threw another interception

We needed a FG
