Gruden's comment on MNF about offensive talent at LSU

Am I the only one who saw it as a not so tangential swipe at CLM and his lack of production on offense. Gruden mentioned Hill, Beckham, Landry and Mett and said something to the effect of wanting to coach at lsu because of all that talent. Felt he could do better. Never named Miles, but you got the idea.

There was nothing wrong with the offense last year. The defense let us down in a few games last year.

Jesus freaking Christ, what lack of production?
The offense had a 3,000 yard passer, a 1,000 yard runner and 2 1,000 yard receivers. As I recall, the first time that happened in the history of the SEC.
Lost 3 games:
No defense at Georgia, Mett picks at Ole Miss, and Bama on the road.
There was no swipe by Gruden, and no lack of offensive production. This has been said 1,000 times today.

Maybe he can develop one of our QB's.

Question:
Where did the offense rank last year statistically in the SEC last year? It grossly underachieved given the talent that it had. It could not win the west and went to yet another Mediocre Bowl. This year is worse. Miles needs to get some real production from QB. Mett was a lucky break, but Miles did little in 2011 to develop him despite many opportunities. The same is now happening with BH. No rational explanation for it.

Amazing how you got all that from Gruden saying that LSU has a lot of talent

Depends on the statistic. They were elite in yards per play and points per play, but didnt run a HUNH.

Seriously? Les should have spent more time inserting his third-string QB on games during a NC season?

First of all, the 2013 offense was highly productive. No. 1 in the country in third-down conversions, sixth in passing efficiency. Elite in yards per play and points per play.
Second, the rookies were obviously extremely well prepared to succeed at the next level, which all of those guys have alluded to on many occasions. Jeremy Hill said his transition was really easy because Hue Jackson and Cam had coached together in Baltimore.
As for Gruden, his offenses over his tenure at the NFL level aren't close to what Cam produced.
Two years ago there was an extensive study done of NFL OCs. They looked at the following 15 primarily offensive categories: Team W/L %, takeaway/giveaway ratio, yards, points, offensive giveaways, rush. att., rush yds., rush TDs, rush Y/A, fewest fumbles, pass att., pass yds., pass TDs, fewest INTs, and net yards per pass attempt.
During his tenure, Cam's offenses averaged a top 10 in 11 of those 15 categories (the only coaches who had 11-or-more were Kubiak (11) and Shanahan (12). Cam was 9th in the study.
Sean Payton was top 10 in 10 categories but had the highest overall percentage. Josh McDaniels was sixth and Mike McCarthy 10th.
Gruden's tenure placed him among the top 10 in one category (fewest interceptions) and he was 23rd in the study.
Objectively, Gruden's reputation far exceeds the production of his offenses.

Yeah an offense that flat out quit against Bama in the second half. rolling up sats against a bunch of rent a wins is a loser's game.
Tell me how they did with the games that counted.

Miles haters come out in force when they see threads like this .
Instead of hoping the team gets better, they rather spew hate like spoiled children.
The negativity in no way helps this program, plain and simple.

Developed him into a 3,000 yard passer. What opportunities are you talking about?
