Was just thinking with all of the back and forth over the last 24 hours... wasn't the Gator Bowl at one time considered a close to top tier bowl?

It is, just not in the eyes of the SEC who is influenced by the large amounts of money that Chick-Fil-A spends with the conference and its TV partners.

The Gator Bowl has lost its prestige in the last 15 years...

Was wondering why MSU was penciled in there... it's a Jan 1 day game.

But the noon kickoff would suck.

I'm good with the CFA... maybe a little extra incentive for next year.

Gator Bowl is only a Jan 1 game because so many of the really big bowls are now played on other days for TV.

The CFA bowl has a prime slot -- it's a good bowl and the payout is good too.

Fans bitching about it, just like to bitch....

I really think UGA should have gotten the BCS bowl and not UF -- they beat UF and had UF played in the SECCG they would be the 2 loss team..... you should NOT be penalized for not winning the SECCG.... period.

Perhaps we don't just like to bitch. Perhaps some of us have a moral problem with the bigotry associated with the chicken bowl. I refuse to give money to this company in exchange for Shitty food, why would I support them in this bowl game?

It is all about the money.

ChickFilA is an excellent sponser for their bowl game. And they spend a lot of money on the conference. This has allowed the ChickFilA Bowl to pay its participants more money.

The Gator Bowl is sponsered by Taxslayer.com. They have lost much prestige over the past 10 years.

First you say this:

quote:

Perhaps we don't just like to bitch.

Then you follow with this

quote:

Perhaps some of us have a moral problem with the bigotry associated with the chicken bowl.

Pardon me for pointing it out, but bitching is exactly what it sounds like you're doing, moron.

At one time the Gator was a much bigger deal than the "Peach". But now the Chick-Fil-A is a bigger deal and its not even close.

Ole Miss is playing in January. Don't let the date of the game mislead you.
