I think it was a difficult situation, handled extremely well by both men, to this point.
It seems that this transition was scheduled for the end of 2016, then the wheels came off.
If we can assume that this has been in the works, after witnessing just the first 2 losses, put yourself in Alleva's shoes. Waiting could be catastrophic, possibly setting the program back years.
At the very least you find out if your eventual successor might be ready to move a year early, if you can secure the financial obligations of such a move.
Miles has been and always will be a class act. Keep in mind that Miles and Alleva have no relationship due to Alleva's State of the Union Letter after the '08 season. So, if the move is going to be made, how do you handle Miles' last game? Do you say nothing and drop a bomb on Sunday? Hell, I wasn't even going to attend the game. Personally, that would have upset me more.
This way, everyone has an opportunity to share this moment with one of our most revered coaches of all time. I expect to have some water in my eyes Sat night. I would have thought less of Alleva if he hadn't found a way for the fans to take part in what I'm hoping to be a bittersweet, triumphant send off .
I'm not leaving the stadium until Les leaves the field. And I'm in full support of the change.

Alleva has boxed himself in and thus he's boxed the program in. After the Ole Miss game, he should have said that Les has his full confidence, even if that wasn't true. It would have kept the media at bay and prevented speculation.
But because he didn't, he's basically in a position where he has to fire Les. Because if he doesn't, than other coaches will tell recruits that they don't know who will coach LSU in 2017 and the LSU guy coming in your living room may not be there in a year. All this despite the fact that if we don't get Jimbo or Chip Kelly, the best we can do is a lateral move. Mullen and Fedora are fine coaches, but you're going to spend over 10 million to buy out Miles' contract for one of them?
Also, Les deserves more respect them he's gotten from Alleva. He leaves as the greatest coach in LSU football history. I don't care if he snookered Alleva by negotiating with Arkansas into a better LSU contract - he earned every penny of it. And he ran a program free of scandal or embarrassment. Yes, Jimbo is probably an upgrade over Les, but that doesn't mean you treat Les like crap.
Exactly!!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Buyout is far from cut and dry. It could end up being almost nothing if he takes another job or if he just retires and isn't looking for a coaching job. It will end up being way less than 15 million. I would bet it's closer to five. It could get ugly like the Chavis deal.
He has 4 years left on his contract, if its anything other than health related, he's being forced out. He is owed the money, anything that happens after he leaves to change that doesn't matter at this point.

You mustve missed the part where I said I think Les knows his fate but is not being cooperative while we may be letting him have his ride into the sunset, after the way we hung us out to dry with the Title game and Arkansas get a raise bullshite, I really question Miles character as someone who so called loves LSU, it just sounds like hes being bitter when he should be thankful he got the job after Saban period.

Go frick yourself crybaby bitch, nice reply, oh are you not intelligent or articulate enough to reply to a thread asking for fellow fans opinions? Feel sorry for people like you, life must be hard
Posted on 11/27/15 at 12:57 am to LSUTigers9458
I'm embarrassed that there are people like you who are fans of LSU.

Embarrassed? When I gave my opinion and was told to go frick myself? A god damn hypocrit at its finest

There are opinions that differ from yours, you do know this, correct?

I don't have a problem with it either they may have had to leak it to let other party know they wee serious. I feel bad for Less but he probobly knew things were critical surely after Arkansas. IMO

So I guess when someone has an opinion with relevancy to the OP its cool to just say go frick yourself right? I respect others opinions but no need to be childish in responses

Agree, I think some fans and media are running away in the emotions of the decision and forgetting the business aspect of it

I cannot respect your opinion when this is at the end of your post.

I meant that getting offered the job after being mediocre at best at OSU and passing on Jimbo at the time, is why I said he was lucky and really a surprise to get the job when Saban left, it wasnt mean as a insult to what he has accomplished, if anything i believe it would be consensus to say he achieved more than most of us ever thought he would
