A little more offense would've made our defense much better today.

Yeah, that was our plan. Chavis' had the Auburn offense on the field so much we tired them out, and only gave up 24 points in the process.
Newton was gasping for breath at the end of each run in that last drive, because he was so worn out by our defensive gameplan. Great defensive gamplan IMO

Auburn's offense had the numbers on us every play. We sat back and waited for the play to come to us and by the time it got there they had guards, tackles and fullbacks taking out our front 7 and we had to rely heavily on DBs to make tackles (not good). Seriously, the play where Newton just stood in the endzone waiting for all his blockers to open up the hole was embarrassing.

It wasn't the scheme as much as the players. We had players in position to make plays most of the time. They simply didn't get AU and Cam to the ground when they had chances.
I thought our DE's didn't play very disciplined.
Late in the 2nd our d was just worn down from the offense shittin the bed, again.

look - we gave up over 400 yards rushing and over 500 yards total offense. That is not good no matter how you try to spin it.
If you watched the game, you saw a very simple Auburn blocking scheme designed to get a man on the MLB and allow Newton room at the 2nd level to get up a head of steam. We never once adjusted to that blocking scheme.

You need to get penetration upfield!
Chavis despises playing aggressively on D. Malleveto was never this bad

If in position you mean not being able to get off their blocks and taking up space, than I agree. Our defenders were eaten up by their blockers and never able to really lay a hand on Newton until the second level.

Although they only gave up 24 points, the defensive gameplan was terrible. Sitting in the stands I could see how inept we were at getting anywhere close to Newton. They basically ran the same play over and over again. Newton in the shotgun, delay wait for the hole and run. But we couldn't seem to stop that for crap. There's a reason he only passed for 89 yards in the entire game. Terrible mistake to not blitz as much as possible. Offense opened up a little bit, but this 2 qb system and playcalling is killing us. Pick one and stick with him. End of story

This board is wrong. Where were the obvious needed adjustments on defense? Watch the Iron Bowl to see a real defensive coach scheme great talent. LSU is screwed until they fire this coaching staff.

That was the whole game.

did they get a bonus
The French judge gave them a 10 for artistic impression and choreography.
They still only scored 24. If that isn't what counts why keep track.
I'd rather give them another 400 and take back 8 points.

Sorry but it does make a difference when you let the other team run up and down the field.
Our D was done at the end of that game. No gas left in the tank.

I look at it like this.. AU has a great offense, albeit through Cam Newton. Our O did NOTHING in the 2nd half except for a trickery play that gave us a TD. Our D was out there all evening long and STILL only gave up 24 points. Yes, they ran for an incredible 500+ yards. I don't blame Chavis, our D got outplayed. They weren't tackling, they were getting blocked up and down the field. AU's O came out to play. If our offense wasn't so pitiful our D would not have been out there long enough for AU to get that many yards. The problems is in 30 minutes of football, our D was out on the field 25 or so minutes of that. You can't win without any offense, but the D hung in there and fought til the end. Kudos to them.

The offense consistently leaves the D hanging in horrible spots.

Some people just dont get it!
Thank goodness for Helton pinning them deep. Otherwise it would have been a severely lopsided score as our D had no answer and refused to make adjustments.

. That's the point. Don't give up big plays - keep it close on the road.
Maybe you were watching a different game. They gave up A LOT of big plays.

Sure, but in that game our special teams consistently put the defense in very good position.
There is no way anyone can defend that defensive performance. It was the most rushing yards LSU has given up in the history of LSU football. Most rushing yards by a QB in the history of the SEC.
That type of rushing performance is what you would expect from 95 Nebraska against Nicholls State.
