This guy has no clue what defenses we were running or what Collins responsibility was on any of those plays, so his opinion is worthless. I guarantee our coaches had watched film all year, seen cooper burn every team, and told our CBs to prevent the deep ball at all costs. Hence Collins being beaten on slant routes.

Well I agree with all he said.
That was the most worrisome part of that game for me, before it occurred. The only out we had was if Cooper didn't show up. He followed that for most of the game, until towards the end.
I appreciate what JC gave to LSU, but he wasn't who we needed on Cooper.

While that could be true, if we were so worried about Cooper, we needed a Safety on top in coverage. I don't think that was what we were doing. However in the spread sets, its not easy to tell.

Still don't understand the love for JC...He's a Tharold Simon clone

Jalen Collins was okay....I don't believe he is a shut down corner but he was decent at LSU. You knew when a team needed a catch on 3rd down.....Collins was giving it up...

that's why i think white will be a first round pick. He's been our best cb since he got on campus

It was not an objective analysis. We all can pick two or three passes that A. Cooper dropped in the game and point how the football should be caught by him.
The writer did not highlight J. Collins strong points in the game. He did a good job, even one on one down the field on Cooper.
Slant passes are the toughest passes to defend on all levels of football when it is one-on-one. The writer is full of Sh@t.

Collins is a great athlete but far from a great cover man. White was LSU's best cover man by far.

When Mayock was ranking CB's and had JC #1, he continually mentioned that he did not excel at coverage underneath because of scheme and lack of technique due to it.
This is not some overvaluation. Well known draft experts already see his issues in underneath coverage and the main pluses were athleticism, pure speed, agility, and lack of separation on all coverages outside of the underneath coverage types.
This guy is using six reps to act like people are ignoring the truth about JC. He's off base with his discussion about overvaluation. But he's definitely not off with the discussion about underneath coverage technique.

Pretty interesting film break down of Jalen Collins vs Cooper this year. Spoiler - it doesn't do Collins any favors...

Come on man!!! Listen to the music that this guy his playing. He seems like a Bama fan. Plus he only looks at 3 or 4 plays. How about looking at each play by play. Anyone can take your worst plays and make you look like you are completely over rated. I call BS on this.

Jalen Collins vs Amari Cooper
it was evident after about 2 series that white could run step for step with cooper and collins could only hope to stay close enough to tackle him after he caught it. i couldnt for the life of me figure out why white didnt shadow cooper the entire game.
this is no disrespect to collins, hes just a better matchup against bigger receivers.
ETA: i didnt watch the video, just commenting on what i saw in the game.

agree. Collins is not of the pedigree of a standard "LSU corner". He is 3rd round material, but his measurables and the LSU DBU legacy allow him to possible get overpaid and overdrafted.
Posted on 4/27/15 at 9:46 am to Bert Macklin FBI
what sucks is if he gets drafted high and fails, it tarnishes the DBU moniker a little.
hoping he has a successful career and gets coached up.

On the plays that are shown in this clip the guy doing the video is spot on. I don't think Collins is that great, never have.
