Touché

That was only 29 yards though, not 60+

There was not much time left to end the half, so they let the clock run down. They did run one more play before the half that was simply a safe play, but who knows what would happen.. say he breaks lose and runs for a TD.. Who knows.. but there was no harm in running one safe play before the half ended.

Or maybe the play never develops, Jennings gets sacked and fumbles and it gets returned for a score...

Or maybe the pass he's intercepted and returned for a score...

Or maybe the running back fumbles the ball, it's recovered and returned for a score....

Who knows

The worst part of Les' game day coaching repertoire is the end of half, end of the game when the clock is running and quick decisions are needed. Anyone who cannot see that he is lost in this scenario is just not being honest. Its happened way too many times to just be ole goofy Les messing up the 2 minute drill.

What if he breaks a long play that gets LSU into FG range but doesn't score a TD? Then there is no time left on the clock to kick the FG. The call doesn't make sense to me.

30 seconds left, runs clock to 3 seconds left and then calls a screen pass. It was one of the weirdest sequence of events I've ever seen play out.
auburn in 07, lsu got stopped on 3rd down with about 25-30 seconds to go before half & miles calls time out right after the player was tackled. instead of letting the clock run out for the half, he calls T.O. to punt the ball to auburn.

That play was called Sh*t-the-Bed 54 Screen.

Let's see, we're down 14 POINTS and State gets the ball to start the 2nd half. The best thing Jennings has done as QB all year is throw really nice bombs. Travon Dural can fly, is one of the top 10 receivers in the nation and and has one of the highest ypc averages in the nation. MSU gave up 3 70+ yard bombs to UAB.

I got it. Let's run the ball with our 2 yard average, make them think we're gonna run the clock out and then call a timeout to run a screen (which haven't run well all year) to probably our least speedy RB. Yes, this sounds like a good idea. Magee is a solid player and a great representative for LSU, but if I'm gonna run a screen in that particular situation, I think I'm gonna go with Fournette - the guy who was a track champion.

That was Les with the moronopoly over the playbook there.

Listen man, I have been a Miles supporter from day one, but you have to be beyond a "Miles apologist" (rant term), to not question WTF we were doing there. Also, after 3 quarters of ineffective QB play, why was there not at least a switch?

Before the season I was satisfied with Jennings, even after ULM, I said it would take some time, but I wanted him as a full starter. Also, that he should take the most reps to get comfortable throwing during SHSU and ULM. So I am not a Harris "put him in" guy from the jump, nor during the spring.

During that whole time, Miles kept talking about wanting Harris to get snaps, even during close games. Did not want to name Jennings the starter even after two games. Why, when we were 34-10 (offense 3 points), did we not put Harris in? I know we finally scored on the very next drive, but it mattered not. He himself, said he was going to play both, and not just the other in garbage time.

Miles can say what he wants, but you know the only reason Harris went in, was because Jennings couldn't go back in at the time.

Forced punt, run a play if put in good position attack if not don't. It happens in every football game in America in first half. Only this group of imbeciles makes more of it than is

Yeah, Miles is usually spot on with his clock management skills. Don't really know what happened there.

The thing that really tore me up about that deal was that during the timeout, there wasn't a single freaking coach in the team huddle on the sideline. Nothing but backup QB's with clipboards and the offense. Where the freak was the coaching staff?

The pumpers probably think it was a clever move, we mortals just can't comprehend it.

down 17-3 I would have thought they would have maybe tried to score some points at the tail end of the half. they run a play that sends the game clock down 27...26...25...

That doesn't explain the timeout with 3 seconds left to run a screen because you can't explain away that stupidity.

the last 30 seconds of the first half
and what did Les say at the press conference after the game.. "if we'd have had 30 more seconds, maybe we win the game" Hey Les, you did have 30 seconds.. you pissed them away with your piss poor clock management/play calling at the end of the first half.

IMO, we should have at least tried to get in position to try a long field goal. Any points there could have changed the momentum of the game.

See Atlanta vs Saints in week one.. I know.. this aint the NFL.. but a little positive momentum there and this could be a totally different looking week...
