We aren't going to beat them throwing behind receivers either.

Then why would you want to play JJ?

I am just dizzy with excitement waiting for them to bring back JJ and the option...
oh wait. I'm not.

Nothing wrong with it, but i'd rather Ware or Shep run the wildcat than JJ. He has mediocre speed and a mediocre arm

Yep.

Miles has dealt with this before. Think Flynn/Perrilloux in 2007.

No doubt. It wouldn't shock me if Jefferson had a crucial fumble in a huge game. This is the same guy who was sacked and fumbled setting up a score for fricking McNeese. The offense this year has been efficient and mistake free. It would be nice if it stayed that way

it's not needed

it might make the offense better, but it's not like we're adding robert griffin or cam newton to the offense here

seems it may do as much harm as good, IMO

I think it would. We're going to need to get to the outside against them. JJ can bring that with a decent pass threat. I'm saying 5-6 plays a game... I think it'd be useful.

He's about the 34th best running back on our team. You could pick any RB, WR, DB, and maybe some other positions and they are all better athletes than JJ. He brings nothing to the table that someone else can't do better.

The offense was dreadful the last two years with him taking the majority of the snaps.

When he comes in he will either: Run the zone read/option or throw an occasional pass. The defenses won't be surprised by this.

Than Shep? I still don't think so, but I agree that it's not going to hurt to give him 5-6 snaps a game.

I'm guessing shep and ware aren't capable of helping run the 'wildcat''?!?!?

why do we even need the 'wildcat'? we've done well without it up to this point.

RP was a much bigger passing threat than JJ and he hardly threw a pass until the SECCG.

And it wouldn't surprise me if he had a run/pass option play that results in a huge score ala Perrilloux in '07 vs. Virginia Tech.

He has ability. He is THE BEST run/pass option on the team.

I'm not saying he should play a ton. If we are great in the red zone without him, then he should never play. But if we start to struggle in the red zone, then giving Jefferson 3 or 4 snaps per game couldn't hurt.

he's also much more of a liability in the backfield too.

Why do we need a wildcat formation? Our offense has been doing fine without it. When was the last time we scored 40 points or more in 3 of 4 games?

We don't need a wildcat. Play action is working out better for us.

If Miles/Stud does something more with him in the game than just straight up options every time I can feel good about a half dozen snaps going to JJ.

But if you're going to put him in and recreate what you did with Shep in the backfield last year then GTFO

When the offense has the ball this year so far I have a confidence that they can score everytime we have the ball.....the last two season it was the complete opposite where u just hope they can do something and when we hit a pass play for 20+ yards its like holy shite.....now its become more normal to see. The offense has consistency and identity so why frick with it..

So for 5-6 gimmick plays, why not use Shep or Ware? Wildcat plays usually result in a run, so why not have superior runners? Both are capable of hitting a wide open receiver if the defense gets sucked in.

Call me crazy, but JJ just isn't that good. He excels in zero areas.

Have you seen JJ this year?

And it won't matter how big of a passing threat he is. He won't be in there to pass. And the defense will know it.

So when the occasion arises for Jefferson to throw the ball, receivers will be wide open (like they were for Perrilloux).

It takes the ball out of lee's hands and takes Carries from ware and ford.
