TCU plays SDSU and wins 40-35, Oregon plays Cal and wins 15-13, Stanford plays ASU and wins 17-13, Wisconsin beats Iowa 31-30, and finally Alabama beats Arkansas 24-20. Now all these games people talk about how a win is a win no matter what. Granted Wisconsin and Alabama faced tougher opponents then TCU and Oregon in this example. However, LSU wins a game against anyone and we are expected to destroy them. When LSU has a close game they mention "LSU barely beats UM, UT, UF...etc etc" Never is a win a win in the eyes of ESPN when it concerns LSU.

So, what is your explanation as to why most everyone is given slack by the media for their wins but for LSU a win is not a win in their eyes.

It is because LSU plays the toughest schedule and the others do not.

Not only is it ESPN, but it is also the coaches. They place a 1 loss Wisconsin team ahead of us, yet they've only beat Ohio State(we dominated them for a NC), and Iowa. Yet this year we have beat WVU, UNC, Bama, MSU.

Another good arguement for LSU is if TCU and Boise had to play at Auburn this year, do you think they would win? If not, then why wouldn't LSU be ranked higher than both of them.

LSU hasn't won in impressive fashion all year. Also, that SDSU game will probably allow Boise to jump over TCU, when it looked impossible before that game.

My favorite was herbstreit's analysis of TCU's tough road victory at SMU...28 miles away from their home campus.

If it happened once, it would be fine. But it has happened repeatedly with LSU suggesting that LSU could easily have a much worse record. More importantly, many of these "close calls" have been the fault of the opposition and not a measure of strength by LSU.

The Tenn game was definitely a win, but when you have to put them up against other teams, LSU would have lost to a bad team at home had they not given the game away.

Btw, a "loss is a loss" too but LSU was give the benefit of the doubt in 2007 because they "almost" beat Kentucky and Arky.

So all these other teams have been impressive all year? Every team has struggled this year to win, and LSU is no exception.

~Edit @ Lsumatt) Who else would have played in 2007? UGA was probably the best team, but got knocked out since LSU won the SEC. Boise likely would have lost to either LSU or OSU, and beyond that many teams lost the last week.

Care to explain how this has anything to do with this current football season?

ULM 51-0 (defense killed them).

If LSU had to play the Boise/TCU schedule then would could assume we would do the same every week.

@tduecen) Was only giving it a mention about the last time we played them. Never said it should have an effect on this year, unlike the voters who think Boise should be given a shot because they beat OU one year, and Utah beat Bama.

Not really, LSU did struggle against McNeese State, Vanderbilt, and other teams

Because for some reason everyone still thinks that LSU is the only Division 1 football program where it is easy to win and easy to recruit.

Pretty sure both those teams are better then the majority TCU/BSU face.

(I'm going to lunch be back in a hour)

All of those teams have looked a hell of a lot better, style points matter. They may have struggled in a game or two but LSU has looked pitiful in a few.

North Carolina
Vanderbilt
Tennessee
Florida
Ole Miss
McNeese State

Voters remember these games and think that LSU got lucky to win them or struggled against an out matched squad. As much as people say "a win is a win" style points matter.

Right, 250 yards of total offense is impressive. My bad.
