Etling played the worst out of any offensive player yesterday.

The WR group as a whole played like garbage and did almost nothing to help their QB. They were called out on national TV for just standing around doing nothing.

Shut up. One could argue that the TWO picks that Brennan threw against Troy cost us the game. For Brennan's sake (and the rest of us), let the guy develop this year. Let him learn from Etlings mistakes. This is not wasted time... if we throw him to the wolves (like Lee) then we could kill his confidence.

You must be illiterate or enjoy being a victim, but literally every QB that has played for LSU in the past 12 years has been hated on HARD on this board.

Guts and experience counts. Working has these. Brennan still shows immaturity.

there are actual concrete reasons why Etling is playing like shite

True but yesterday the guy was leaving a clean pocket and running with receivers wide open, he has check downs wide open but throws to his primary in coverage. I like etling but he is really regressing instead of progressing

I'm not and Etling fan but...Maybe you should check on the number of turnovers, Etling vs Jennings, Harris, and Jefferson.
After the string of quarterbacks recruited/developed by Miles's staff, Jefferson would be my choice.

Etling should start every game but the bama game. Etling has not deserved the right to play bama again.

Crazy how Etling gets a pass by a lot on this board and Jennings, Harris, Jefferson didn't.
Jennings should have gotten a second look in 2015. But Etling is better than Harris and Jennings on his worst day.

Agree with this analysis. DE for whatever reason doesn't seem to fully trust WR route running with well timed throws. I tried to isolate on WR routes, and noticed though they are not creating separation. Add to that a "risk adverse" philosophy for QB to be a "game manager" and DE seems to not trust throws at cuts on time with routes.

"Obvious"? To whom, Joe Fan? Safe to say, take Coach O out of the equation & Coach Canada certainly knows a hell of a lot more bout quarterbacking than any fan here. Good Lord.

How about it’s because he can actually think and run/manage a game a shite ton better than those three clowns? Pretty much because he has a functioning brain.

But it’s obvious Brennan is far and away the best QB on the roster.

This is far and away your opinion and my opinion differs from what I have seen.

There are 117 QBs listed in the NCAA 'passing efficiency' stats this morning. Etling is No. 32. I don't think he's the problem.

Brennan is not better than Etling

But he could be better in just a few games

This is a classic season where we are playing for basically nothing after next week, I say let him play.

In an offense like ours the QB must capitalize on opportunities. Danny too often misses them.

Umm . . . no, it's not. He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He is a tough kid and a good leader but he can't make the throws you need to make to beat good teams.

I'm sure he knows the offense better than Brennan and Narcisse but those guys need to get up to speed asap.

I agree, he's not 'the problem'.

However, I agree with this wholeheartedly...

Just because he's not 'the problem' doesn't mean we should look for better. Settling for 'good enough' got Miles into trouble. We shouldn't do that.

Brennan isn't ready. Let's get him ready. It is possible to have him up to speed by end of year. I doubt it though. Of course just yesterday I saw posts of complaints of our 'stupid coach' 'pulling Etling' 'unjustly' to play Brennan.

For the record 'the problem', IMHO is:
1a. WRs aren't coached up and doing the little things that a QB needs
1b. OL, and DE isn't a playmaker that can make up for some of the OL issues
2. The D isn't putting the O in an advantageous enough situation(s) to increase scoring

Yes he does miss some throws but at least he knows what the hell is going on out there. He's tougher a competitor than those guys. Wouldn't have had near the problems with those guys had they known what the hell they were doing, that at least gives you the opportunity to execute the play. Etling definitely has his flaws ( locks on receivers and misses throws).
