I love the guy and he is tough as nails. But it’s obvious Brennan is far and away the best QB on the roster. Brennan gives us our best chance to win each week and it’s time to get him ready for next yr.

The only reason to start him is his experience and leadership. It gets old watching him overthrow receivers

I’m curious did they even run that running back wheel route again that he overthrew it was a good play. I was right there where he missed it

Crazy how Etling gets a pass by a lot on this board and Jennings, Harris, Jefferson didn't.

I guess it's because he's a guy that brings his lunch pale to every game.

yet i would rather watch him overthrow wide open receivers than give up on every passing play as soon as we snap the ball.

like the coaches called 62% run plays and 38% pass plays. thats a really high run rate but not out of the question. yet Etling turns 33% of those 38% pass plays into run plays without ever even attempting to find an open receiver and throw the ball to him.

so u end up with 75% run plays and 25% pass plays which is absolutely not the game plan

What board are you reading? Etling certainly doesn't get a pass on here. Every other thread last week was about playing Brennan and taking our lumps now since the season was a waste and Etling is too limited.

Maybe it's because he doesn't throw interceptions during crucial moments in games like those guys did.

Brennan is better than Etling but he's more prone to make mistakes. If the game is close and Etling is not throwing picks, I think we need to stick with him.

not saying you are wrong but its almost like Etling passed the point of being "careful" to the point where he's so afraid to throw the ball that it is becoming a huge detriment to our coaches attempts to get the ball in the hands of our talented young receivers. noone can disagree that gage jr should have the ball in his hands wayyyyy more often but when we design plays to get the ball to him quickly etling just decides to hold onto the ball and then tuck and run rather than stand in the pocket and throw it on the timing the route is designed to get gage open for

the 3rd and 15 out route felipe franks threw was a perfect example. that play worked because the receiver made the cut and the ball was there when he turned around. thats a really hard play for a college DB to make.

Etling is trying to wait til the receiver is already open before he will risk throwing the ball. that isnt how routes work, good DBs for almost every SEC team we are going to face will recover by the time u see the guy open and throw it and the ball gets there. that window on a cut is designed to get u open long enough to catch the ball, like half a second. it isnt supposed to be long enough that u are open then the qb throws it and then u catch it. this is D1 football, not high school

Why because he can't walk on water?

And I'm not so sure Brennan is the answer because we really need a good duel threat.

By the way, who says that Brennan is far and away the best QB on the team? You, what's your credentials? Brennan fan, oh okay, that's what I thought. Anyway, coach O said it at half time, Brennan is not ready. So get loss and stop with the childish nonsense.

Agreed! The guy is tough as nails and he's a gamer but he is simply not an elite or even average QB by anyone's standards. He threw 2 passes downfield the entire game and both were nothing but hail Mary's. You would think he would have thrown at least one good pass more than 5 yards. It's either bad route running by our receivers or perhaps Etling simply cannot throw the ball downfield - besides the bomb. WTF?

i tried to describe the problem 2 posts above yours, it would be better to see the all 22 but like u said theres no way none of our receivers beat their man on any routes. its just etling has no faith in throwing as our guy is making the cut, he wants them to be wide open before he even attempts to throw it and by then its too late

you arent going to beat SEC CBs by 3 yards on every play, the window is so small you have to have some faith in ur arm and ur receiver that u will fit it in that window and he'll catch it if its there. Etling has neither apparently

Brennan has won zero games. I think Etling is something like 10-5 as a starter.

is this really how the QB argument is settled? everyone just go back and forth saying he sucks and the other guy is unproven. there are actual concrete reasons why Etling is playing like shite, how about we focus on those and if there is any chance of him fixing them

Or you could have just flat out called this board a bunch of racists instead of assuming Danny's lunch pale is a paid endorsement of The Rant.

Are you retarded? You're posting this is a thread, the very title of which is referring to him never starting another game. If you're trolling, fine. If not, I feel bad for your parents.
