We'll win the SECw and be in the national title hunt all season long, so no. There will be no LSU-Les Miles divorce talk.
Honestly, I see a 2011 type season going on where we bull rush everybody and beat Bama by 7-10 points at home. As long as they lose to another team (Ole Miss, Tennessee), then we won't have to worry about them sneaking into the playoffs.

I like how they give LSU shite for having les on the hot seat but didn't even give a shite about UGA firing Richt

Ok. But isn't les one of the best recruiters out there. I think so. Brandon was NOT why we lost. Our D line got demolished that game. And Ole Miss having a decent qb is an excuse. They were never in that game from the start. Think about it.
1. He is a great recruiter, but nobody has perfect depth everywhere. We had Melvin Jones as the backup FB in 2014 and honestly, I thought he was better than Neighbors in the second half of the season. He got in trouble (academics I think), and was gone leaving us with Moore in his first year and freshman Mouton who played more receiving TE in high school than blocking. Shipley (a 280lb 6'5 TE) screwed us in the recruiting game with his BS and he would have been the replacement for our "#3 tackle" Gordon. Jeter is good at blocking, but he's only like 245 at best (listed at 6'7 244).
2. Harris was pretty bad vs Ole Miss but our blocking was horrific in the 3 losses all together. They gave him pretty much zero time.
3. Decent is not how I would describe Kelly. He put on a show last year and dominated LSU for 3 quarters passing and rushing. Then they ran the clock down. Yes I agree LSU was not in the game much (Hawkins was out so we started another true freshman on the OL), but hell, Fournette had a 56 yard run on like the 2nd play and then it was wiped out. Again, bad exchange 4th down on goal to go late in the game, cost us points as well. Ole Miss was up 38-17 with 3:29 left. Harris went 12/28 1 int from that point til the end of the game.

If Bama was not as successful as they have been under Saban, very few would want Miles fired. It's just the fact that they have dominated for so long now, that is the standard most LSU fans are looking at. The fact is, you will probably never see another Bama type run after Saban retires. Unfortunately, the combination of Saban at Bama is just a perfect storm. Of course, had he stayed at LSU, he would of had that same run or better.

The scheme is not fine, the execution is not fine either. When the execution is poor yearly, why do we keep pointing to it instead of the actual scheme? My God it shouldn't have to take experienced 3rd year starting NFL level players at WR and QB (Mett played JUCO for a year) to have a decent passing game.

Think of this. How would that "awesome" Baylor offense have done if they played any team with a defense.

I don't know if that's true. The Bama Saban is better than the LSU was Saban. imo

LSU might have the biggest fan disconnect with reality in college sports. The displeasure expressed, continually by some, with our football and baseball coaches even with both owning NC and high level of achievements, overall, is hard to understand. imo
Paul has taken LSU baseball to the CWS 50% of his time here with 5 SEC tourney titles, and a NC but we have fans who continue to 2nd guess almost his every move and post like he is clueless. Miles owns 2 NCG appearances, a NC, a 100% OOC regular season winning percentage after 11 yrs, the 2nd highest number of wins in power 5 football during his time here, and he is 2nd in SEC in winning percentage, .02 % behind the leader, but some act like he has to have help finding his way to the stadium on game day. Both have these achievements came while playing in the most competitive college conference in the NCAA. Something neither Skip nor Nick had to face in every game while coaching at LSU.

What is that November record in the SEC since 2012?
And we've gone 14-10 in the SEC, and 9-9 against the West, the last 3 years. That's what's driving all this.

It shouldn't, but this is Cam Cameron's background. He's an NFL guy who has worked with professional athletes for years and for years was running an offense that could be grasped because those guys were on a higher curve, no limits on practices, etc.
The problem is that when you run that offense, you HAVE to have a guy who can make the reads and audible away from a bad play when necessary. That's a tall order to ask of a guy who was playing high school ball two years ago. He does seem to be simplifying things for Brandon Harris, and we'll see how that works out, but our biggest problem by far for the last several years has been lack of depth.
2008 - redshirt freshman
2009 - true sophomore
2014 - true sophomore
2015 - true sophomore
2010-12 wasn't always pretty, and there were some horrifying moments, but we did manage to go 34-6 during that span. Then 2013 happened and we saw what this offense can look functional. Just give it time, guys. The next two years of Brandon Harris/Cam Cameron should be a joy to watch.

What was our conference record from 2008-10? What was our divisional record from 2008-10? What happened in 2011?

The 3rd best record in the SEC.
In the last 5 yrs, LSU has more wins than Nick had had in his 5 yrs. here.
While 8 L's in 2 yrs. is not acceptable for LSU, let's not act like our football program is tanking in comparison to everyone else in the SEC.

I guess I'm just too dumb to understand that 9-9 against the West in the last 3 years, with our annual top recruiting classes, is something I'm supposed to be proud of.
Silly me.

Add a bowl win and it's a 10 win season.
THE HORROR!!!!! How could any college ever settle for 10 wins a year with a bowl victory?
If Miles can't at least win 13 games a year and the NC then he should be run outta town immediately - am I right??
We should hire Art Briles today and show Miles the door. I for one am getting sick of being ranked in the top ten, being in the discussion for the playoffs and bringing in top 5 recruiting classes every year its time for a change damn it!!!!!!

Athletic director Joe Alleva and the school’s leadership reportedly decided midgame to keep Miles after seeing the outcry from fans.
Something that was completely misread by the administration and the national media. There was no outcry of support. There were lots people thanking Les and sending him on his way with well wishes.

The only thing we need to get better at on offense is passing efficiency.

"Silly me"
On that we can agree.
You throw out 14 and 10 like it's some big SEC sin when in fact it's the third best record in the SEC for the last three years. While it might not be what we have come to expect from LSU or what any of us want for LSU, it's not like the 3rd best record in the SEC is some terrible ranking.
As to your 9-9 west record you keep throwing out, while I'm not going to research it, i'm willing to wager that save for Bama, Every other team in the west will have pretty much the same record if not worse.
While I too am disappointed with the eight losses in the last two years, my disappointment doesn't cause me to ignore the fact that even with those eight losses we are one of the top three schools in the toughest football conference in the NCAA.

I dont gove a shite what his overall record is (mostly when the west wasnt as strong). Now that the playing field is more level Miles is an ok coach at best.

quote:Yes, but that .600 is padded with a easy September schedule for the most part and it is a winning percentage in the .900 range. When it COUNTS Miles has failed!
Do you realize how ridiculous it is that you're using three different qualifiers to limit the results? Since 2012, only four of fourteen SEC teams have better than a .600 winning percentage in overall conference play. LSU is one of them
