Per Lance Zeirline's blog on the Houston Chronicle.

He talked to four different NFL scouts who gave anonymous draft grades on three players from LSU:

Scott: consensus 5th round

LaFell: consensus first round, but one scout called him way overrated and had serious concerns about his hands.

Tolliver: Consensus 3rd/4th rounder but one scout said he did not like him at all as a draftable prospect.

If this season dropped Scott from a 3rd to 5th round pick, "scouts" have no idea what they're doing.

Do you think Scott was better this year?

What's the knock on him? Figured he'd get more love than that from the scouts.

Wow..the 2009 O Line should make up the difference between the 2nd and 5th round pick salary.

Sounds about right. No way would I draft LaFell in the 1st round. He does drop some passes that a first rounder would catch.

I think our offensive line was worse. It was the same thing for Mealy when Faneca and crew left. No place to run. If Scott doesn't get picked until the 5th round, somebody's gonna get a steal.

When was this written?

The scout that doesn't like him must be an LSU fan. Keep him here another year please!!!

Not great blocker, lazy route-runner, doesn't display great hand strength for someone his size and inconsistent hands? Still raw with a ton of upside? Not sure if that is a bad thing.

Lafell - I wouldn't take in 1st round. in two biggest games of year (FL, bama) he has less than 80 total yards and no TDs. only 3 of his 8 tds in SEC play (6 games)

he has not made any big plays

It would be absolutely foolish for Tolliver to enter the draft when he has an experienced QB coming back next year and will be the #1 receiver in the lineup. He would be a concensus 1st round pick on 2010 versus a small money 5th rounder in 2009???

Scott is really too slow, he may run a 4.7 at the workouts. and that'd put him at the 5th.

lafell - 2nd round

tolliver - needs another year, wont' be leaving early so it doesnt matter.

Mike Bell free agent, Drew Brees free agent, Pierre Thomas, either free agent or undrafted free agent, Colston 7th rounder, who was Lance Moore again?, Roman Harper, Darren Sharper 30+ yr old free saftey traded, Great teams see the potential in a player. frick what a scout has to say.

I figured TT would be back for his senior year, maybe for once I'm right.

He certainly didn't get the stats to back that up. But remember preseason, when the coaches said he was stronger, faster, and had improved his blocking? Sorry no link. There was certainly reason to believe he was going to have a banner year, and as far as I'm concerned he improved his game this year but his blockers didn't get him rolling until too late. Scout's are big time statistic suckers IMO. Shame.

Whoever gets Lafell, Toliver, Scott later than the 3rd round is getting a steal IMO.
