I know there's a clause that states he will be the highest paid coach in the event LSU wins the BCS, but is there anything that states he'll get a guaranteed raise with a 2nd place finish?

I don't know the contract but I am confident there is not an "automatic" raise for anything but the NC clause you mentioned.

Last year when he renegotiated with Alleva he did not ask for or get a raise... he wanted the security of a long term deal so that in case of a down year (or two) there would be a committment.... he got that.

He did not get a raise after 2008 and I'm not sure about 2009.

The haters will disagree --- but damn... 13-1, undefeated in the SEC schedule and SEC champions... I sure HOPE they give the man a raise, he's certainly earned it.

Anyone saying, 'but the way we lost....' --- has obviously never had a bad day and knows nothing but absolute success and holds themselves to this same standard, I am certain.

No.

But he did earn about $400K in bonuses from the season this year.

That doesn't include graduation rates or APR or whatever.

Just talking about the football season.

Yes we all have. But by God when it meant the end all say all(which is what the BCS Championship game is), I have used absolutely everything at my disposal to get the job done. CLM did not do that on 1/9

Ok, I understand your opinion, but the question to you is: Are you saying Les Miles performance for the entire 2011 football season does or does not warrant a raise?

I say it most certainly does.

I'm still butt hurt about some things that has happened but I hope he is compensated for what he has done at LSU.

Well.....I think that has been covered..... with the wishes of Rantards ranging from "manning up" about his decision to not use Jarrett Lee to hanging himself from the Huey Long Bridge.

I don't know if there's anything in the contract that guarantees it, but there might as well be, because all he would have to do is ask for it, and this season's results would give him plenty of leverage to get pretty much whatever raise he wanted. I haven't been impressed with Alleva so far, but I'd be surprised if he were stupid enough to say no when someone of Miles' accomplishments asks for a raise.

If they don't they are not doing their job in retaining a fine coach. Perfect, no. But the man has done LSU a great job.

The best record with the toughest schedule is hard to say no to.

I'd like to see him rewarded well for this season with a little extra kick if he brings home the ball to red stick next year.

He used what got him to the title game, namely, strong defense and punting. And then bash the other team into submission.

It won 13 games before then and I won't blame him for depending on up to that point had been a winning formula. If he'd switched away from the time-tested solution for victory and it hadn't worked everyone would be bashing him for not sticking with the script.

My personal opinion is that since he was going to get a $1MM raise for winning he should reduce his pay by $1MM for losing - especially the way he lose. That was a disgrace to the coaching profession. Performance evaluation: F-

I can only imagine the fans' response if he does. I think more fans would have a negative reaction than a positive one.

Ok, so then add in another 100 k for every bcs bowl winner he beat, every top 10 team he beat, for winning the SECW, winning the SEC and oh yeah, to be the only to beat this year's BCSNC. My lord, do you really think that Lee, who obviously was rattled by Bama 11/5, could have handled how they were playing on 1/9? I know he should have tried, but dude went 13-1 and did it with possibly the worst set of senior quarter backs in the country. Cut him a little slack.

of course. Alleva is taking advice from the PR folks to let this all settle down, and then to plug the hell out of the 13-1 record and #2 finish and #1 pre-season ranking till the cows come home and until out bank accounts get opened up wider.

Maybe they wait until after the spring game when EPSN lauds LSU once again in a likely televised event.
