I am saying auburn as in I would rather they get him than LSU get him. At auburn he would do what any dual threat qb would do but at LSU he could add a serious passing threat to go with an already strong running game. He would put LSU up to pre season favorite in the sec. I would rather see you guys with Anthony Jennings.

I hope we get Miller. Gives us a upgrade at QB and gives Harris more time to mature and grow.

I don't think you can base what you think Miller would do here on anything that we've seen in the past. It would be a unique situation. This is not a guy that backed up another QB then got kicked off the team. This is a guy that's already played the game at a high level for more than one season while having his team in championship contention.

That being said LSU will always run the ball first under Miles.

You going to clarify this Victor Craig situation?

Umm, no.

During his recruiting process I freely supplied information on the recruiting board and b/c I didn't come out and say he was committing elsewhere, they damn near crucified me on there. I'm keeping my mouth shut and y'all will find out shite when it's released to the media from here on out.

Here ya go LINK

In this situation, does Harris redshit?

They both have been developed with coaches that know how. Yes it would be different.

I think you HAVE to redshirt one out of Harris and Jennings. Harris would make the most sense if he's open to it. He could come back in 2016 as the starter with a LOADED team around him.

They stuck with it because it won us games. Plays were there to be made in the passing game. We had a starter that is a career 50% passer. When Harris started, he went 3/14.

open up the offense or do you think Miles & Co. will stick to the same ground and pound philosophy?

Everything is relative.

It would certainly open it up compared to 2014.

If they earn the trust the O will open up. I seem to remember a recent O with two 1k recisvers and a 1k back

Metts first year he had to earn the trust because he had never achieved anything at D1 level. If they bring in Miller who is former B10 player of year (twice) and Heisman candidate, you only bring him in to go all out. What would be the point of bringing him and then just running same basic offense you were stuck with. So to answer your question, yes. If he comes I do think the offense is going to open up.

Depends on how quickly the new QB could pick up the playbook.

Golson, ftr, has called reports of his transfer "extremely premature." He does not graduate until May, meaning he would miss Spring and probably summer "voluntary" workouts, too.

It sounds like Miller could be at LSU in the Spring. If that actually happens, I would expect him to learn the plays and run the entire offense like Mett.

Yes.

And a return question. Do you think AJ or BH looked just a little comfortable in the pocket this year? Hard to open up the offense when your QB doesn't show much confidence in the pocket.
On a positive note, I still think AJ & BH can develop into solid players, they were just not ready to be the guy this year.

Gotcha, now go worry about your own QB issues "Coker"

I think we threw the a lot with Russel, Flynn, Lee (freshmen to the wrong team) and people booed him off the field and on this board and then praised him his senior year (after he neve developed as a qb, because we don't develop qb at LSU), and with Met.

We did the samething this year Saban did in 2004. Lined up Alley Brussard and pounded because Randall and Russell couldn't complete a pass.

If you have a QB who's capable of reading defenses, who's diligent and smart enough to learn the offensive playbook, who knows how to work in the pocket, whose progression goes beyond "first Dural, second run", and
whose passing accuracy is as
good on the short flat and
crossing routes as it is on the 40
yard bombs, well then an
unpredictable mix of run and pass
becomes a possibility. See, in this regard, Z. Mettenberger circa 2013.

With a guy like Golston, you have to assume that he can do many basics well, and the challenge would be mostly terminology. He should be able to read his progressions, "feel" the pass rush, etc.

Offensive formations, no matter how different, all work the same way for a QB in a passing game. You're trying to see, pre-snap, what the defense is doing. If Golston can read a linebacker or safety, or spot a blitz, that would translate fine to LSU. He just would have different personnel to throw it to. At Notre Dame he had advanced to having more receivers in patterns than Jennings or Harris could handle, so he'd be fine here.

Well lets think about this for a few seconds.....

Does anyone else think replacing terrible QB play with good QB play will likely improve offensive production?

I actually like the offensive approach in the final two games. Add an efficient passer to the mix and LSU can put up some points next year.
