Leslie will likely lose 2 games this year. I have no reason to believe otherwise b/c he's NEVER lost fewer than 2. I doubt anyone on here will be singing his praises at season's end if we have 2 losses. Just sayin. For that reason, I do NOT like Les Miles.

Nothing less than an undefeated season and MNC every year for you huh?
Just for schliz and giggles, what football coach do you like?

and the same idiots who can't accept any criticism of their beloved coach come out in these threads. I love Miles as a person, recruiter, figure head of the program, etc. I just think he doesn't always prepare the team the best. And, he doesn't always handle in game pressure well. And it has shown dating back to his first season. But, people just ignore it for some reason.

fixed it for you....wow how old are you? small minds think small.....while you were wanting miles gone, most of us that have been around a while, and know football, realized the qualities that the guy brought to the table....and had the nuts to stick up for him. All we ever heard every single day was "all of us old guys (I'm 44) are okay with mediocrity...etc..etc"....as if miles could only bring us mediocrity.... I got news for you kid, LSU will go through bad times again...and then you will understand what we "old guys" saw in the guy.

Look, you seem pissed, but you're trying to bang home a point that I was never arguing about. Yes a good coach need to surround themselves with good personnel, this is obvious. There was a small window when he didn't, and we struggled. Miles has been the punch line for jokes at times over the last few years. I'm not so much concerned with wearing his hat funny and eating grass, as I am with the bad in game management decisions and personnel decisions. This is why I was worried about where we were headed. But he showed he can right the ship, brought in guys that could make this team better.

I know you said MOST older guys still wanted Miles through thick and thin. I'm not so sure that is completely accurate. There were a lot of people, regardless of age that were not happy with him at some point

This is the answer. Miles' performance as head coach has been up and down. The Ole Miss and other clock management fiascos, the co-coordinator ordeal, the inability to find and develop a competent QB for three years; all of these things really happened and are legitimate criticisms. He's always been strong in recruiting and has a phenomenal overall winning percentage but you can't pretend he's never had massive frickups. Most importantly, it looks like he's addressed most of these concerns and is becoming a better coach every day. All that said, I wouldn't trade him for any coach in the country. frick Saban.

So, Saban had to rebuild Bama from where it was,

Where exactly was it? Shula might not could coach, but that team was loaded with NFL talent...do you want me to name all of them.....Christ you kids are stupid.....if anythign, that team has gotten worse since all of Shula's talent left...watch what alabama does this year......you don't believe yet...just wait....again....should I name all the shula talent that saban won the NC with? I don't think so.....btw kid, Saban did it in year 3, not 2.....you are forgetting the 4 game losing streak year one (while losing to ulm with all that talent), and then the humiliating loss to Utah in year 2......also, the SEC west was VERY weak in 2008 and 2009...thanks to Auburn and LSU being down......as well as Arkansas.....but of course, we won't let facts get in the way of your logic...you are a young kid...i'll cut you slack slackhouse...but it's time to grow up and gain a little intelligence and use your wisdom and analytical reasoning skills better.

There is many factors that have nothing to do with coaching that led to down years in 08 and 09. Just notice the upward trend since and you can figure it out if you have been paying attention.

I remember reading the board before I was a member during those seasons and some of the same guys that are in this thread were claiming how miles was Larry coker and is leading the team to mediocrity with no chance at bringing the program back.

Look how well that prediction has turned out.

That is why you can't take those guys seriously. They don't know as much about football as they think they do.

NOPE. Only downward trends are noticed, though mostly fabricated.

So basically, what you are saying...given ALL OF THESE MASSIVE FRICK UPS..lol at that btw....he still has a better overall winning % than saban had here.....so if you use analytical reasoning skills...I guess that tells you he is an exceptional coach to be able to overcome ALL THESE FIASCOS and still have a better record...lol.....you kids.

People like Miles because he doesn't have the option of using Jefferson. If he had never been suspended, he would still be our below average QB that Miles loves. People like winning and good decisions. Since the Arkansas game last year, he hasn't made any bad decisions or lost any games. So yes people like him. He has to surround himself with good coaches and great talent to be successful. Great coaches can win with whatever they have.

I'm not sure how old you are, or how old you think I am. But, continuing to call people who disagree with you a kid makes you sound like a preteen kid who is trying to overcome his young age. I would think since you are so freakin' old and smart, that you'd be able to have a civilized discussion without having to continually tell me how freakin' old you are. So, please STFU with all of this stupid age crap. It makes you sound juvenile.

and it doesn't matter if Les goes 14-0 with the NC

So far that hasn't happened. He lost 2 games with a championship team. Luck got him in the big game. There were times in 2008 I wanted him gone. Like Troy...and Arky by not keeping his team settled. Ole Miss 09 and Tenn '10 didn't help either. He seems to have gotten back on track. The team loves playing for him and that says a lot. So for now he's won me back over. He has shown he can beat any coach/team in the big games. If we lose to WVU, I'll still like him. If we lay an egg...well the sky might be falling.

The point that you're unable to grasp, Grandpa Jones, is that he's a better coach today than he was in '08. I don't need to whitewash history to come to that conclusion.
