Agreed. Carmelo carried Syracuse to a Championship his freshman year.

Simmons has this kind of talent.

Only if Robinson comes around, but that doesn't seem likely at the present. We should be after a center, JUCO or otherwise.

we gain at least 4 players, and lose 2? Also hoping a couple of the other guys develop more...I'd say we at least go 2 deeper this coming year. However, whether that translates into a deep run...who knows?

I could see us making a deep run or losing early. Too many things up in the air and too many crazy things can happen in the tourney to accurately predict almost a year out.

I keep trying to figure out how we will be lacking in the frontcourt. Simmons and Victor take the place of Martin and Mickey. Robinson had some time to develop and should be ready to bust out. Plus Bridgewater and Epps get a bit more polish (who knows what, if anything, they get out of Malone). The team should be much better in the front court and way deeper. Actually I don't see how they could fit another guy in. Unless the team plans on mainly playing Simmons at SF, which he will probably play a bit. But that would create a big logjam in the backcourt, with 6 guards that should all play pretty big minutes...

Tbh I questioned Johnny Jones last season, but he can recruit his arse off,

My feelings exactly. I'm frustrated at times with the lack of discipline and accountability, but recruiting is far and away the most important piece to coaching college hoops, or any sport for that matter, and he's getting that done.

barring an upset in the tourney next year I love us to go to at least the elite 8.

Ben Simmons is special. Once in a decade special IMHO. And make other players around him better special, not just highlight reel or scoring special.

There's enough besides him that we have a chance to make a run.

Just have to see how the dynamics of players and staff mesh next year.

Geaux Tigers!!

How could anyone possibly know this? The roster isn't even complete yet, one scholarship to go. And even then, lots of teams look good on paper but don't produce. Egos, attitudes, injuries and match ups will be huge. Still not much of a bench for the bigs unless we can score one more. Elbert or Darcy may start but I can't see them getting a lot of playing time. Neither one is up to snuff on defense.

Point guard and turnovers is yet another place where we fell short last year and must do better. Hopefully Victor won't be a turnover machine like Mickey.

Good enough to win a game or two and hopefully stack a run together. Takes more than just talent to go on said run.

We really need to add a big for depth. Victor and Simmons can't do it all.

They are gonna have to learn how to play together as a team, therefore I don't know.

Unfortunately I just thought the team was learning how to do that at the tail end of last year. If all of last year's team was coming back this year I would say yes, we are a final four team.

As some have mentioned we have depth with the small guys but no proven bigs. Hopefully Simmons, Victor will be great with Malone, Epps or Robinson taking a big step forward.

Depth is most definitely a concern in the front court man it was last year and we had Martin and Mickey... Just bc we have 5 guards doesn't mean as a team we have a lot of depth

Simmons is a step above (at least one step) both Martin and Mickey, but they're both gone. unknown how much Victor, or anyone else can replace either one of those

Blakeney is a talent on the wing and big guard LSU does not have and has not had in a long time

Yeah of course Q has athleticism and defense, but he's still shooting set shots

the 2 new mega-talents will be fun to watch and it is true that the depth at guard should go along way

and they can get to the NCAA tourney; how far they go will probably depend on player development from Victor, and/or a reserve and that is unknown

but maybe Simmons and Blakeney are good enough to carry the rest of the team on their shoulders
