That he had his player's best interest in mind? Nick Marshall played QB every year at Auburn. Now he's entering the draft as a DB. How do you expect that will work for him?

It's smart. But Marshall didn't play db his last year in college did he?

Read the last part of the quote it cost cam a winning season and his job

The smart move for Marshall would have been to switch to DB last week year and let Johnson take over at QB so that scouts would actually have DB film to grade him on.

And coaches don't get fired based on one bad year of production. Cam made his bed all along.

In college sometimes it's better suited for you to put the ball in your best athletes hands every play. Arkansas figured it out with McFadden, but you have to tailor the game plan to his skills. They didn't ask Dmac to drop back and pass, he did throw occasionally but it wasn't drop back

It brings me back to what started the whole debate. Recruit for your system if dual threat is what you want then tailor it as such. If pro style is what you want then recruit a pro style qb.

[quote]Diarse and Quinn will be the WR3 and WR4 They haven't done anything to lock up those spots. Chark could jump either of them {quote]

Neither has Durel or Dupre. WR is one spot that should be wide open for competition. NO one has shown they deserve to lock down a starting spot IMO, not even Durel. Diarse and Chark should be as likely as Durel or Dupre to start.

You have neglected to answer this question. Do you know what a dual-threat QB is?

It is the run-pass threat qb

Nicer way of putting a guy who can run but not throw so well.

Does not apply to every dual threats but for the most part the dual threat guys don't pan out in a pro system which is what we run.

Yeah, that's what I figured. A true Dual-threat QB can both run and throw. Hence DUAL-threat.

Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, John Elway, Steve Young, and Aaron Rodgers are good examples.

A dual-threat QB is in high demand for any OC, regardless of his system.

Those you named absolutely as most are hall of fame guys

They can do the 2nd part of the run-pass

Not all dual threats can

Not all pro-style QBs are legitimate passing threats. You do yourself a disservice by limiting your perception.

Dual threats we recruited with Les haven't been close to that level.

Hence the reason we got Mett out of JUCO

He wasn't a dual threat he was a pocket passer better suited for our offense

Agreed maybe it's just a bad taste in my mouth of bad qb play the past couple years save the 2013 season

Jefferson and Jennings aren't even DTQBs though. They just have some mobility that the staff has tried to utilize.

Harris is the first true DTQB we've had since Perrilloux.

In an ideal situation, of course that situation being against Bama. My Wr group would be diarse x dupre y quinn z diarse a with chark the wild card x and y and TBJ and DC the wildcard z and a. Not saying ones better suited for the position than the other but to create mismatches. Each one brings different styles and match ups

Imagine 2013 if Mett had any degree of mobility. That is the ideal fit for our offense. Harris certainly has the arm strength and mobility to fit that mold. Kid just needs to mature and avoid taking any shortcuts in his development.

To be fair, Jefferson had an offensive line coach masquerading as an OC and a former O-lineman masquerading as a HC; I don't think we will ever know what Jefferson was or might have been. His victory at Bama should be considered the greatest win ever in football considering the masquerade ball of coaches.
