Les Miles can't coach!

LSU has the highest winning percentage of any school not named Boise State and TCU since Les was hired.

LSU has the 2nd highest graduation rate in the SEC behind Vandy.

Whether you like Les as a person or not, we should be extremely proud of what he has accomplished here.

And you cannot really argue with his record, it's phenomenal.

But yet...you try, huh.

The "system" I care bout is one that wins and 8 years later the Miles system has won more than any other BCS program in the nation and been more successful that any other LSU HC ever!

What LSU has achieved since 2005 is made even more "phenomenal" when one considers the fact it comes during a period when the SEC is by far and away the most powerful conference in all of college football.

When the rubber hit the road, a HC is measured by one factor above all others...does he win.

I got a theory too...some of us have become so spoiled from our elite success that we can no longer see the forest for the trees and we have become titty babies.

was the OP born after JR at QB? we threw it a lot that year. it's almost like we play to strengths of our offense, weird?

i back miles but honestly have no idea what happened Jan 9th. he was awful that night but bama was also excellent.

quote:

Agree with your points very much, but you forgot to also add these resume busters to Les's formidable history:

1) Playing not to lose. Get a little lead and sit on it, let your defense and ST be bigger parts of the game than just 1/3 or 1/4, which they should be.
2) Marble mouth explanations, vagaries, and general douchebagness when answering questions. Remember, he does not owe you an explanation. You are just supposed to come to the games and cheer whatever he does. Midwest and Big 10 fans do not know football, and neither should you.
3) Hire great coordinators and then handcuff them. Hire bad coordinators and let them stay longer than they should because 'you're a nice guy'. Screw the program and all that nonsense.

i totally agree about saban here. wait, who were we talking about??

I guess what I am saying is, when I visualize his name it looks like this:

*Les Miles
I think you got it. Let's hope and pray *CLM eventually does (get it, I mean) too.

Were you watching the LSU/ Ole Miss game in 2008. That day many of our very own fans cheered as Lee laid on the field injured. Sad really.

You guys are going to give JL a win for the Bama game? Thank God Miles had the balls to pull him. If he didn't, LSU would have been SEC West runner ups. I like Lee, but he was not going to win on 11/5 and I hope most people realize this.

Don't you guys give JJ the win against Tenn, Florida last year. Why because he started. So actually it woult be

9-0 w/JL
4-1 w/JJ

I agree. What ever "it" is, "it" is strange. The saga of JJ and JL epitomizes LM weirdness as a coach. That episode and the entire BCS game made no sense to me at all.

I don't care about their individual records as QB's. I support whoever is behind center. I am not a big fan of JJ, but you have to give him credit when it's due. JJ turned that game around from an offensive standpoint. On Nov 5, 2011, JJ played with no fear as was better than Lee on that night.

I think this thread is a form of group therapy, at least for me. I'm still obsessing about that game and now look to next November with blood lust. These Alabama-LSU matches remind me of LSU-Ole Miss 1950's and 60's.

LET IT GO

You play inch worm football when you have QB's who can't pass....fault CLM for not getting a QB earlier, but honestly LET IT GO.

Bama did not change anything about their game except to prepare for it, which *LM seemingly did not; we saw improvement in 'Bama's motivation, special teams play, and field goal kicking.

We saw improvement in everything from Bama, including game plan. Everything was different. They f'king owned that game.

I'm ok airbornetiger...

I consider myself a skeptic of him is all. His losing the BCS was worse than an Olympic ice skater falling down during a gold medal routine, losing ones chance for ultimate glory after a lifetime of practice...because of an accident beyond ones control. The ice skater didn't have a choice, *LM did. All *LM had to do was obvious TO ANYONE WATCHING, and even in losing, he'd likely still have the strong support of the LSU Nation...had he done it. Instead, he chose to be stubborn according to some odd personal code, at the expense of the team, school, fans, and other stakeholders.

He must earn everything back in my opinion.

No, but you can't give a W and a L for a single game. I think they gave JJ the credit for winning the first Bama game, so Lee gets no credit or, to used Miles new favorite terms, discredit for the first game. As such, Lee was 8-0 in 2011 and JJ was 5-1. By the same token, Lee should have received credit for the 2010 Wins against Florida and Tennessee, because without him any reasonable person would conclude those as losses if JJ played the whole game (like the belief/assertion that Bama game one with Lee playing the whole way would have been a loss).

Tiger88. You said it,finally some body said it.If miles would have put in JL in the game he would still have strong support for doing everything he could have to win the game. JL would not be praised as he is now. Miles let him end his career on a very posistive level. Believe it, thats the type of man miles is .MILES /players coach .thats why they love playing for him.

that was before he had the security in his job to tinker with his dream: installing the Bo-Schem-Miles offense extravaganza.

Now that, hopefully, he's seen the devastating consequences of such an endeavor, he'll give in to a wiser course to winning.
