When he first arrived at LSU, he and a few TAF execs were teeing off in front of our group. He topped it off the 1st tee and I commented, "Coach, it's good to see you're working hard & not playing golf."

He looked up at me w/ hate in his eyes, cursed under his breath and w/o retrieving his ball, took off down the fairway.

It was priceless!!!

I met him quickly in a hotel elevator in Mobile. I did not know he was so small, but that explains a lot. He is ate up with SHORT MAN disease!! Meaning he has to be an a-hole to make up for his physical appearance.

Some of you goofballs really care about a coach's personality. Why? You ain't hanging out with him. Apparently his personality is perfect for being a college football coach.

Making 5 Mil. a year he can go buy a friend if he desires. Guy is paid to do a job and that's win championships at a school that expects to win championships.

During his final season in 04, I think before the Vandy game. A friend got me into the hotel/conference center or wherever where the team eats lunch before the game. I was out in the little courtyard area talking to some other fans when Saban came darting out and pushed someone's, must have been 7 year old son, and said "Get out of my way!"

Seems legit.

Actually, it probably is.

A friend of mine's dad was on the Board of Supervisors when Blanco was governor. I got to go to a couple of pretty high level functions with him. My friend couldn't stand Saban (and this was at the time he was coaching) because he did pretty much the same thing to his kid.

I worked as a bartender for three years where they had the coaches show. He would show up 30 seconds before they were supposed to go on air, walk around the restaurant twice during commercial breaks shaking hands without looking any fans in the eye or conversing, and be out of there 15 seconds after the show. I served him his drinks for three years and maybe spoke 20 total minutes, the culmination of which was in the third year my gf asked me if I could get some posters signed that they were going to raffle off for Childrens Miracle Network. You would have thought I asked for his firstborn. The exasperated sigh he made after the request took longer than the three signatures.

By the way Hawthorne is the worst tipper ever. He would order a Mich light, $2.75, tip the quarter. Order a second beer and take the quarter cause he had tipped the first time.

And he delays his burps a full minute after he takes a swig of beer, so you never know which sip he's referring to.

Bottom line: he is a great coach, but a complete a-hole of a person......... So, what would you prefer? I would prefer a great coach. He can be an a-hole all he wants because I don't have to ever deal with it. What I do have to deal with is cheering on our Tigers and listening to a buffoon coach (CLM) talking like a retard.

Took my nephew to the campus in the summer of 2002. We were at Mike's cage and Nick came walking by. I asked if we could get a picture and he complied. He was nice to us and even smiled.

Met him in the elevator at my work on United Plaza Blvd. It was just the 2 of us riding and I told him good luck in the upcoming season. I put out my hand for a handshake and he looked completely displeased with that. He shook my hand with a disgusted look and mumbled thanks as he darted out of the elevator. He wasn't a total a-hole but was far from a pleasant human being. I concur with everyone that he is short enough to be approaching midget status.

I met him and he appeared to be a very little, scared man. No eye contact, looks at the floor, etc.

maybe as a coach, but not as a person. stop being so oblivious to the points people have made using real life scenarios.
