Kendall Beckwith is just as good if not better, and he was here as recently as last season.

And Brooks isn't near the athlete White is.

He's Patrick Willis less 2" and +10lbs......as a sophomore.

Beckwith was good, but he didn't have White's explosiveness

Hahaha
Beckwith would not have ran stride for stride with a WR on a reverse after hitting the center and reading the play.

Scouts watched that and said oh my god he is the best athlete on the field.

How can you possibly say this? Beckwith is considered to be one of the better linebackers in the NFL already and he's just a rookie. You can't realistically expect someone else to be better than that.
Beckwith is the best LSU linebacker of the last 15 years. White is awesome but he's only been doing it for a short time. Why does everyone have to hype everything up so much and live in fantasy land at all times? It creates unrealistic expectations for our players.

Do does this mean we are no longer upset about Dylan Moses?

He's the most athletic MLB we've ever had by far and could end up being the best.

Beckwith is doing well in his rookie season so that means no lsu LB can ever be better than him

Makes sense

Beckwith struggled his first couple of years, white is way ahead and faster/more explosive.

Beckwith was great no doubt, but it took til his senior year for him to truly standout. White is justvas good asbeckwith was last year and he's just a sophomore. I do think White will be one of the best if not the best to come through barring an injury. You also said beckwith was best lb in last 15 years but you must not have watched Kevin minter during his junior season. Guy was everywhere

White is so much faster than Beckwith.

Beckwith was better than Minter without a doubt. The fact that Beckwith is doing so well in the NFL is indisputable proof of how good his abilities are. It cannot be denied.

Also, I'm not sure what LSU football games you were watching the last few years. He was an absolute stud from 2014 to 2016 and our defense often looked like Swiss cheese as soon as he came out of the game. Do you remember in 2014 when DJ Welter would spell Beckwith for a few plays and our defense would look totally different without him in the game?

Again, I'm not saying that Devin White sucks. He is very, very good. I'm just saying that some of this stuff is exaggerated when we call him the greatest LB to ever wear purple and gold just a few games into his sophomore year.

Devin is playing like Beckwith did the last few years already. We better enjoy his presence, because it will single handily win us a few games.

I started going to games in the mid-sixties and have seen George Bevan, Mike Anderson, Michael Brooks, Eric Hill, and many more great LSU linebackers. And I think White has as much potential as anyone I have seen at LSU.

Similar here (first game in '70). We've had so many great LBs through the years but Devin is as good as I've seen. FTR, Brooks and Hill played on the outside.

Agree

Bradie James and 2012 Minter are up there for me but White may end up being the best. His instincts are great and you can tell he watches film.

I thought Eric Hill played Middle linebacker maybe it was just in the pro's though?

DW reminds me most of Eric Hill. I know hill wasn't as fast but that was a mean looking SOB and he was physical.

First thing, is that though DW has the size and physicality to play MLB, he is playing Rover LB in Aranda's system. Duke Riley's position from last season. D. Alexander is playing Beckwith's spot.

Secondly, I've been watching LSU football since the mid 70s, and I've seen Michael Brooks, Eric Hill, Ali Highsmith, Beckwith, Minter, James and the rest play for our Tigers, but I can't recall any of them being the leader of a defense as a sophmore. Equally impressive is the motor and drive that DW plays with. And last but most certainly the speed, agility and size he has.
And lastly, all these things combined, barring the worst, is enough for me, and possibly all of us LSU fans, to get excited about the potential Devin White possesses.

I honestly feel like this guy can be the next Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis. Just the way he takes guys down and the speed at which he does it. We get to enjoy it one more year and then he is gone.

It’s what he does when he is out of position then has the athletic ability to come back and make the play that’s amazing. He is just gonna keep getting better and that’s saying something compared to how he’s already playing.
