Again I think beckwith was great but to say minter. Wasn't even close is crazy. Dude had 130 tackles in 2012

He's not far off, you know. White's on pace to be a top 5 LSU Lb ever IF he don't pull a Faulk.

Thomas Dunson when it comes to playing LBer for LSU....

There will never be another #52 like Dunson. Retire his jersey already. God dammit I love/hate when people remind me of Mr. Almost.

There are a lot of 6'1" MLBs in the NFL.

Ray Lewis is 6'1" so is Jonathan Vilma.

Thanks for clearing that up. I am truly excited to have a Devin White that makes dare to compare to these guys! We're blessed!

If he is not the best we have ever had, he is in the top three. Aside from strength and speed what has impressed me is his smarts. He is the leader of the defense making sure everyone is in position. He diagnoses plays quickly and can cover from one side to the other.

Aranda is the architect of the defense and White is the contractor that makes sure we follow the blueprints.

Dude is amazing and his upside I think is better than anyone else mentioned in this thread, but lets wait till the end of season before we say he is the best ever.

He has been great this year, but he also has missed some reads and has been partially responsible for giving up some big plays when he wasn't in the right place, along with some of his teammates. It happens to everyone at times but I do think he can improve on his "game read/feel" which he will do because he is only a SO. I remember Bradie James in 2003 and that defense being impossible to run against, that D-line was insane, but it was also insane LB play in Saban's system. I want to see White bring this defense to that level.

It's funny, but during Devin's recruitment to LSU there were some here who argued over his height. So far this season he's proven to be an elite LB'er in the SEC, his team's leading tackler and a good NFL prospect; yet some still are caught up on his height, Whether he's 6' 2" (high school measurements 2015), 6' 1" (current LSU website) or 6' 0 1/2" ( Nike Opening measurements 2015) I don't really care and don't think it's adversely affected his play one bit. In addition, I find it hard to believe the NFL scouts will really care either.

What about him flipping to RB next season? It his "natural postion" I know it won't happen but think that could be scary

Also, I'm not sure what LSU football games you were watching the last few years. He was an absolute stud from 2014 to 2016

No doubt Kendell Beckwith was a really good LB'er and our defense was much better when he was on the field. BUT, he was NOT an absolute stud in 2014 since he didn't start until the 7th game (FL( of the 2014 season. Much to the chagrin of MANY LSU fans, Welter was the starting MLBer the first 6 games of the season. Will Devin end up better than KB was at LSU?? No one knows that yet, but no one can argue that he's not ahead of schedule at this point in time.

there were 3 LBs taken in the 1st last year that were 6'1" or shorter

5 of the 7 LBs taken in the first 2 rounds of 2016 were 6'1" or shorter

you really really really do not know what you are talking about

It was my pleasure to watch him play HS ball for 4 years. Yes, a lot of the time he was carrying the ball. You don't know how bad I hope to one day see him w/ the ball in his hands while wearing P&G, whether it's an int, recovered fumble, fake punt or whatever.
