Desmond says that the SEC should say "This game will be played on November, 19. LSU, you will buy out Southern Alabama and you will play in Gainesville on that day, or you forfeit the game."
The uproar, should this happen, would be unheard of. LSU should leave the SEC should they be forced into this predicament, after LSU tried so many different options with Florida avoiding them.

Des can say that all he wants, but it is my understanding that the SEC has no authority on non-conference games, and thus cannot declare a forfeit if we don't agree to move the game on that date.

Unfortunately public perception will be that LSU refused to reschedule. Unless Joe Aleva has proof (emails or recorded calls) LSU will look bad in this situation.

So the conference has the power to say a school has to play a game as scheduled or they forfeit? That would have been a handy piece of information last week.

the thing i don't understand is we bent over backwards trying to get this game in and Florida said no....yet they want us to inconvenience ourselves on nov 19 and lose a big chunk of money because Florida didn't want to accept the many options they had to play the game in the scheduled weekend

why? It's about the only legit option at this point.
Look, UF, Foley and Sankey screwed this thing up, big time. It's a completely mess, and none of it is LSU's fault.
However, it's the way it is, and a solution will need to occur if either LSU or UF is still in the mix. And Nov. 19 is the best date for playing.
The SEC would need to somehow reimburse us for the buyout of USA and also from the loss of a home game. Maybe they (or we) have insurance for that.
But Nov. 19 is about the best option. Don't know why you think Desmond's an idiot for believing that.

They never mentioned that LSU tried to play them there or here Sat, Sun, and Monday. They put it all on Joe A for refusing to play 11/19!

And I posted yesterday that I didn't think JA should have drawn a line in the sand over the 11/19 game. Because you never know what might happen, and he could end up looking like an idiot.
