No matter what the positards say, someone screwed the pooch on Beckwith last year. There is no way he went from so bad he was worst than Welter, to All American 1st round pick talent over night.

Beckwith was a great talent before last year started. It wasn't his talent that improved, it was his knowledge of the playbook. Beckwith clearly did not know wtf was going on. There is plenty of TV shots of Mills having to abandon his position to run up and yell instructions to Beckwith. Plus he can't cover worth a shite - still! You can't play a guy like that.

In spite of his unreadiness Miles played him a lot, and opponents gashed the shite out of us. As the year progressed he was in position more and more until finally they could replace Welter.

The physical gap between the two quarterbacks was enormous the second Brandon Harris set foot on campus. If the gap has widened, it suggests that one quarterback is improving while the other is not.

If that's true, I pray to god we only have to use one quarterback this year.

sure you can, you tell him "tackle whichever mfker has the ball". When the guy he's playing behind barely laid a paw on anybody and got targeted in the run game for a year and a half it's a no lose situation

The SEC is not sand lot football man. You should be embarrassed for even posting that nonsense.

Undoubtedly Beckwith was the more talented player between he & Welter but knowledge & experience plays factors into performance as well. Could it be that he simply wasn't ready to handle the entire workout by himself at the position? It wasn't like he didn't get worked into the rotation early & often last season.

That playing time might have been what it took for the light bulb to finally come on for him. Every player isn't a to go meal, you pop in the microwave & it's ready. Some players are homemade, slow cooked meals & when it's done right, it's perfection.

Why is it so hard for some people to grasp the concept that the coaches will play the player that gives the team the best chance to succeed? They are paid professionals and they are the ones at practice everyday watching these players and putting together game plans. Sure the coaches make mistakes , but I can guarantee they realize it and do what they can to correct immediately if possible .

Can you concede that beckwiths light undoubtably would have come on much sooner if not for Chavis playing hide and seek with him for his first year and some change on campus?

I'm beating a dead horse, forget it.

Naw man, you have a good point. If Chief would have had him in the rotation in 2013, he may have taken over the job by the end of that season. If so, I guarantee you that Bama doesn't run the ball down our throat like they did that entire 4th quarter to walk away with that game.

I am all for that. I would love a pleasantly surprising LSU NC that included a pasting of 'Bama. Yessir.

Really? Beckwith was lucky if he got more than 1 meaningful series in the early part of the season. He didnt start seeing more meaningful PT til after the Miss St game, where we were gutted up the middle and Beckwith barely played. Miles even said after the game that Beckwith should have played way more than he did. Next game was vs New Mexico St, where Beckwith and Welter rotated series. It was the most PT Beckwith had seen by far. Then we get to the Auburn game. Welter starts, takes a horrible angle and whiffs on the tackle early in the 2nd quarter, gets benched. Beckwith takes over.

DJ Welter as the starter-Opponents had 228 carries for 1,106yards and 9 TDs with a 4.8ypc. Per game, 38 carries for 184.3yards and 1.5 TDs. Good for 88th-90th in the nation in Rush D

Remainder of regular season with KB as starter- Opponents had 182carries for 616yards (3.38ypc) and 4 TDs. Per game, 30.3carries for 102.6ypg and .67 TDs. Good for 8th-10th in the nation in Rush D

Beckwith DID NOT play a lot before the New Mexico St game. Opponents DID NOT gash us with him as our MLB. And it wasnt a slow progress for Beckwith either. He went from playing very little to starting in a matter of about 5 quarters. And his impact was instantly seen by everyone.

So Beckwith clearly didnt know what was going on or how to line people up correctly... yet our defense improved dramatically and became 1 of the best at stopping the run the instant he became our starting MLB. So either Beckwith is so damn good that it doesnt matter if people are out of position, he will still make the play... or Beckwith actually does know what hes doing out there and can line people up correctly.

And the Arky game was the only game where Beckwiths pass coverage was spotty, and he had a strained hammy as well IIRC. Plus, we held Arky to their 2nd lowest rushing total of the season with 95yards, they averaged 248yards rushing, and only gave up 264yards total. And hes our fricking MLB... Very rarely, if ever, do you have a true MLB that is elite vs both the run and the pass. Which is why almost all MLBs come off the field in obvious passing situations and in sub packages.

Your recent posts about Beckwith these past few days have been wildly inaccurate and just plain wrong.

Your pretense that the staff played the least efficient of the 2 conveniently omits the most likely scenario.
Maybe early on DJ + knowledge > KB athleticism, and later on KB athleticism + knowledge > DJ + knowledge.
