quote:Definitely need to work on that now that you don't have Chavis running the defense in practice. Last year they ran the 2 minute drill to perfection in practice, but fell flat on their face in actual game situations
As media left LSU practice, starting offense was working two-minute drill.

And that's good. But for developing QBs there's a big difference between throwing the ball and running routes with the personnel and doing the same things with coaches present to tell you what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong (and how to fix it).

Jennings passes off today many times, may just be shoulder tightening
Year 3, still waiting for it to loosen up.

That second throw by Jennings though.
Has AJ ever drilled a pass in there? I can't remember. It always looks like he lobbs the ball. Kind of like Chad Pennington

I think I'm more excited about that receiver set. Speed all over the field. And Desean at TE is also interdasting.

The job is Harrises to lose! What happened this summer with Jennings made the decision easier for miles, because he can use disciplinary actions to give Harris first shot. Now let's just hope Harris takes the job and runs with it and don't throw up on his self!

So who wants to drag out all the posts from here yesterday saying "I GUARENTEE that miles gives Jennings first reps tommorow!!"

Rough Morning For Jennings
quote:
-It is true that everyone is entitled to a bad day at the office. Today was a bad day for Anthony Jennings. After working on middle screens and handoffs with the running backs the first two periods of media viewing, the quarterbacks worked on the route tree with the wide receivers. Both Jennings and Harris would stand side-by-side and take a center snap. There would be a receiver on either side of the field running a different route. Each QB would alternate sides of the field with each rep. Cam Cameron would call out the route with his terminology, such as “Music,” “Oklahoma,” or “America.” He would then call out the coverage the defense was in, although the routes were against air. If we saw each QB throw 15 passes, Jennings completed fewer than half of his attempts.
-It wasn’t only that Jennings’ passes fell incomplete against air, but accuracy was an issue also. One rep on a 14 yard cross was two yards behind Malachi Dupre. If there is a positive, it is that Brandon Harris looked crisp. Nobody has ever argued against his arm strength and accuracy. They physical gap between the two QBs appears to have widened. Jennings has always been more comfortable throwing on the move and with short “touch” passes. It would appear that is still the case.

BH's weight gain is impressive and makes him a real presence on the field. Combine that with his natural throwing ability and increased comfort with the offense, we could see something very, very special this season.

Based on last season this sounds pretty typical of Jemmings.
