I want to take some Mizzou fans to the Pastime for a true LSU experience, but heard that there is construction in the area so it is very hard to get to and from it.

Can anyone fill me in with some details?

Thanks in advance.

There is some road construction between Pastime and the 13th Gate, shouldn't bother getting to the restaurant.

Nicholson is open, but South Blvd is under construction.

It's similar to the restaurant George's... Old and dark. Food is a tick above average.

Construction isn't a problem. Pasttime pizza is great but it's about $25 for a large big raggoo. Too rich for my blood.

It's for the water campus area they are building
No impact on going to Pasttime.

Pastime sucks more than the construction

Last I looked there was a lesbian bar there now called "L". Am I off a block or something?

Pasttime is an easy treck down on gameday.

the L bar is no longer ..... Brickyard South resides there, but can't tell you much about it.

I bet that most of the responses are from people quite a bit younger than me. When I was at LSU our go to places reasonably close to campus were Pastime, and Quick and Handy on Nicholson Drive.

Quick and Handy is long gone, but Pastime is still there. For me no trip to Baton Rouge is complete without a pizza or poboy from Pastime.

The Pastime roast beef poboy is very good. As they have done for years and years, they slow cook the roast beef until it is cut-with-a-plastic-fork tender.

May be better food and still good atmosphere at The Chimes on Highland.

Younger Ranters may not appreciate Pastime's place in history. It may be quite dated now, but it is an old BR institution from the mid-20th Cent glory days. Legend is they adjusted the I-10 bridge design to save it from demolition.

Pastime is great, IMO, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get there with the closures at I-10 without spending over an hour in the contraflow downtown. For those of you saying it's easy to get to, please post the route you use to get there from campus, now with the construction going on.

Unless your friends are 75 or older, I'd take them to The Chimes or Walk-Ons.

I forgot about that place. Maybe we will do both.

When I was at LSU there was a restaurant in that building named Ruby's and it had some of the best gumbo in Baton Rouge.
