re: Coaches & Players Getting Mad

I'm not a big Miles supporter - and I look forward to the day when our program goes in another direction - but seeing Derek Mason jump and down fighting mad on the sidelines like a wild comanche makes me appreciate the calmer side of CLM. I'll insert Muscamp into the same comparison (i.e. a wild comanche) so no one will accuse me of being racist.

There's a difference between being a raving lunatic like Will Muschamp or Frank Martin and actually exhibiting some degree of emotion that displays a passion for winning the game.
Watch any successful college basketball coach. Coach K, Self, Izzo, Calipari, etc. They're aren't combative assholes like Bob Knight, but you can clearly see their passion for winning during the game. They rarely sit still. They hold guys accountable when bad plays are made, but they are also pleading, cheering, encouraging their teams when big plays are needed. They're living and dying with their players on the court. Their players feed off of that passion.
At times Jones and to a much lesser extent, Miles, look like they could not give any less of a shite about what's happening on the field. If your leader doesn't appear to care about correcting mistakes, holding guys accountable, or exhibiting any general passion for winning, why would you expect the players to do so?
Last night LSU looked as if they couldn't care any less about being run out of the gym by a lesser team. All the while, Jones just sat there like a fan staring blankly into space. I don't need a coach constantly chewing someone out for a mistake, but God Damn, show some kind of natural human emotion that makes someone think you actually care about winning the game

You must have loved Tom Landry. Just think how much better the Dallas Cowboys would have been had Landry showed any kind of emotion. Sorry, you don't have a clue.

I'm quite CERTAIN that he neither KNOWS nor CARES what you think about anything. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Good point. Maybe hitting the player in the face with your fist when he leaves the field would wake him up. Show him that a mistake is intolerable.
Jumping up an down and screaming like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum has been proven over and over to be a effective coaching technique.
Congratulations on your successful 7th grade athletic career.

Lets hire Pelini and muschamp den
Both won national titles at LSU.
And were fired for failing miserably at their head coaching job.

No one wants to compete.

I was coached harder in the 7th grade than our basketball and football players are at LSU.

It's more about passion and intensity. We could care less if he yells. At least appear to care

Correct. Excuse me if my point did not come across as you would have liked.
But this is the truth. You must agree with this at least.

Yeah, well, I just don't agree when it comes to Miles. No opinion on JJ.

Great link.. I'd like to see more of this.. Only when warranted.
Again, my BH example from Ole Miss would be one of them.

Bs, you can care without being NS mad. They have to be held accountable for doing their jobs correctly.

Why is it that some people think yelling it people is how you get them to improve.
I manage teams of 80 people in a high hazard industry. Have done this internationally as well. The teams have been very successful and I can't ever remember yelling at anyone to deliver improvement.
