Hope we see a playoff run this year to show for all of this crushing.

You had me until you listed wr as a position lacking depth. We always seem to recruit 2+ freaks a year at that position alone

Not a response to you Jax. To all of the people that simply want to complain:

Whether or not you like coach O, you need to see some facts:
Final Rankings AP
2017 - 18th
2018 - 6th

Recruiting Rankings
2017 - 15th
2018 - 7th (not complete)

Bowl Games
2017 - Citrus vs #14 and lost
2018 - Fiesta vs #7 and won

If you prefer, we can compare the program to Florida. I think the 2 programs are similar in overall stature.
Fla has had TWO 4-7 season since 2013, and finished outside the Top 25 three times since ‘13 as well.. LSU has “bottomed out” with two 8-4 seasons since 2013. And the worst final ranking was #23 in 2014.

To those who wish to say that I am accepting mediocrity....in today’s climate of coaching salaries, a school MUST be patient with a coach. You cannot feasibly pay 2 or 3 coaches at a time, and still improve facilities, hire and pay top assistants, etc. Would I trade two 4 win seasons for one more title....of course. But that has not happened.

Do not take any of this as any sort of professed love for Alleva, or Ed O. I am not much of a fan of either. Simply trying to ease the minds of some of the miserable bitch boxes that exist on this site.

9 wins totally, then 10 depending on the bowl game

I read 16th, but either way.....

.652 is pretty poor in today's world.

LSU is an above average program

Again, it depends on definition. I have a bit of subjectivity in my definition.

I can deal with 9 wins as long as they're in a string that also has 11 and 12 wins, or more too.

8-5 is a sign of tDecline though and shouldn't be tolerated.

Well put. I’m certainly not sold for sure that O is the answer long-run. I just can’t stand the bitching that goes on on here, especially when things do seem to be trending up from the end of the Miles era.

O is not maintaining the downward trajectory miles had the program headed in.
3 losses in '15 vs 4Ls in'17, 3 Ls in '18.
Miles had one season in his last 6 with more than 3 Ls, while Ed has already has a 4L season in 2 tries.

He had to stop the decline, recruit a full roster for balance, change the offense, recruit and improve the production at QB.
If you look at PPG, the offensive decline has been ongoing since 2015.

All of this takes time and at the same time playing in the SEC West.
Oh I forgot we changed divisions with the coaching change.
If anything the West is weaker since 2015 with Mullen moving East, Freeze fired, Bert fired. It's just to contend with Jimbo and maybe score a point vs Gumps.

I'm sold on Coach O, ready for an SEC title and bowl of gumbo.

9/10 should be the standard, I agree there should be some 11-12 win team in as well. That is the hump that O has to get over. Bringing the team from above average to elite. Less had several years of being elite really but only capitalized once

at the end of 2015, Trey Quinn, John Diarse, Tyron Johnson all transferred out. At the end of 2016, Jazz Ferguson transferred.

It's why 2017 was one of the worst WR corps LSU has ever fielded in my liftime

If he closes out this recruiting class with either some highly rated DL/OT/Rush OLBs or fills these holes somehow with great players who can contribute right away then I'll totally agree.

Honestly with the players he's convinced to come back, the injured players that will return at OLB and TE all this team will lack in 2019 is another WR who emerges and depth on both lines. If he can somehow fix these things by bringing in new players or developing what is already here LSU will be primed for a run in 2019.

As it stands now with no changes I think LSU will go 10-2. If they can fix these issues and RZ offense I think we will scare the crap out of Bama and beat everyone else. I just don't see LSU doing the same thing against Bama next season. We'll need to stay healthy but the schedule isn't near as hard so that is very possible.
