This facts that this article shows come to light in these depos makes him look like he's three steps behind, just like he was at Duke. I don't understand how Alleva is so tone deaf to what is going on around him in real time. Damn

19 sacks in 13 games.

If Chavis had any integrity whatsoever he would have stepped down BEFORE the ND game and returned his salary for the entire season. He sure as hell didn't earn it.

I would bet the Big 10 Big 12 and ACC would easily land Miles a job

A&M would snatch him up in a heartbeat. Ole Miss once Freeze is fired would have him high up on their list, possibly at the top.

Auburn if Gus turns in another mediocre season. Mizzou. Texas if Herman falls through for whatever reason. USC.... The list is actually pretty extensive.

Actually I think it would be similar to UGA firing Richt. Another good team would have picked Les up, and we would have gotten another great coach. Whether the trade off would be worth it, I don't know. But I do feel confident we could land another good coach as UGA landing Kirby Smart will probably prove to be.

At some point this suit is going to be dismissed and it ought to be in Chavis' favor. It's time for everyone to move on, what's done is done.

frick that. Chavis could've waited two more weeks and walked away without breaching his contract. Further, from everything I've read, A&M has claimed that Chavis did not work for them in any official capacity, even though there is photographic evidence of Chavis on official A&M recruiting trips. If they want to claim that, then that suggests to me, a legal layman, that he was still operating under the contract in good faith, lending it some legitimacy.

I don't give a shite how much it costs us up front, I want us to get the 400K and seek damages for the costs of pursuing what we're owed.

Again, if Chavis had waited another couple of weeks, he would have owed us zero.

yall are a bunch of fricking chodes

90% of this board wanted Les fired, and just when alleva is poised to pull the coup, f king pisses all over everything, making alleva the sacrificial lamb.

you hate when Alleva keeps Les, you hate him when he tries to fire Les

It was time for Fulmer to go just like it was time for Charlie Mac to go and time for Dale Brown to go.
Time has been kind to all of those folks but when they left it was the right time, maybe a year late for one or two of them.

Now to the point of whether this "Miles Clause" was a move in that direction, maybe so. Seems it may have lit a fire (and I think a needed one), intentionally or not so may work out

I am hardly an Alleva fan, and think he needs to go, but this botched situation was bc his boss drove the bus over them, then backed over him. F King needs to be told to GTFO sooner rather than later. He is horrible for the university, and I'm so tired of his e-mails and letters alternatively cajoling and threatening parents of his students makes me ready to toss him myself. And I wouldn't be upset if he took Joe with him.

I love that the rantards here think that Alleva wouldn't have royally fricked up hiring a new coach had he gone through with firing Miles. The guy is an awful AD and there are not going to be any elite coaches in the nation that will want to work for him.

Chavis was right about the subject comment.

It's funny how not a single one of these Les hating idiots responded to this.

These "fans" if you will, are like barack obama supporters circa 2008. They all want hope and change, but even after they get their hope and change (let's assume Les is not with LSU after this year and things take a turn for the worse) they will still blame Les Miles for anything that's negative for years to come.

I can only assume they're either a product of this generation that demands instant gratification, or they can't comprehend that Saban is one of/if not the best coach in the history of college football and to try and fire a top 5 college football coach in Les Miles and hire a better one is extremely slim to impossible.

No not really, having lived in TN during that period, the similarities between Fulmer and Miles are spot on. Fulmer won his NC and the program went on cruise control, and got very conservative...of course the common denominator is Chavis, who saved both their behind's...also the situation with the AD's are similiar...both seemingly out of touch with reality... Fulmer stuck with Randy Sanders far too long, and the offense struggled in pressure stuations...then there is the fact that Fulmer couldnt beat UF anymore, just like LSU's situation with UA.

The "Les Miles clause" ties assistants to Miles. If he is fired or resigns, LSU staff members’ contracts won’t be fully honored. A similar clause appeared in the contracts of Tennessee assistants — including Chavis, then UT’s defensive coordinator.

So Chief, let me get this straight. If Miles was fired or left, you would expect the new coach to keep the same underperforming coaches on staff because they were still under contract? Talk about killing LSUs chances to replace with a competent Head Coach.

He wouldn't expect to be retained by the new coach, however, I think he would want the remainder of his contract paid off just like the fired head coach. Under the so called Miles clause they wouldn't get anything.

what genius thought it would be a good idea to change Chavis' contract after his signed it

It should have been given to Chavis to make sure he agreed to the changes, but acting like he wouldn't agree to these changes is specious at best. There were two changes -

1. Updating a name to reflect a personnel change
2. Rewording the buyout clause to be more specific about when it start and ended. In previous writing it just said between month x and month y, was reworded to say on first day of x month and last day of y month. This was probably done by the lawyers and Alleva didn't see it as he claims.

LSU dropped the ball here, but it's not like he signed to owe $200K if he leaves before November and it was changed to be $400K if he leaves before January. Essentially, he owes the university $400K under either writing of the contract.

LOL, totally agree on Alexander. I've specifically told the alumni association everytime they call that I will not donate a penny to the University as long as Alexander is still there.
