Miles needs to give a raise to his PR firm for appealing to the large swath of the fan base who can't think past the end if their noses.
Hit it squarely on the head.

Indeed, I never respected Fulmer for the back stab he did on Johnny Majors. Yes, we are probably better off with the Chief gone compared to the guy we have now, although we had to suffer a bit last season with Steele. However, the way Alleva handled the whole thing was clumsy as hell and is but one of a pattern of behavioral frick-ups. At some point this suit is going to be dismissed and it ought to be in Chavis' favor. It's time for everyone to move on, what's done is done.
You fired Miles with his resume of accomplishments and you would have had hell getting anyone worth a jar of cold goat piss to come in here. I still remember many years ago when there was pressure to get rid of Cholly Mac, and the thought process at the time was to get Lou Holtz. Holtz told the press, "If you don't want Charles McClendon, you sure don't want me." We got lucky (perhaps - we'll never know) with Bo Rein, then the plane crash happened. Things weren't the same for a bit.
On the other hand, the LSU BOS really needs to look at Joe Alleva and F. King Alexander and determine if that is the direction they REALLY want to go. If not, can them. You need some stability and good judgment here first before you do anything else.
And yes, we probably need to be looking for two new head basketball coaches after next season if things don't hurry up and turn around fast. You want the right people in there to do that, and they don't need to be listening to the goddamned bar-be-que gang.

Miles is a dumbo on the field but he has run a masterful pr campaign for himself.
Or maybe that's just his character as a man.

Not really at all. There are millions of men in the world who are shite football coaches but treat people with respect and integrity. Some of you assholes blinded by wins and losses can't see past a man between the goalposts.

Jesus. We pay top dollar, we have SEC level facilities and have the best natural athletes (per capita) in the country.
But, good coaches will say no to a 4 or 5 year contract at 6 million dollar a year because we fired Les?
No, they will be lined up.

quote:Wrong. JA did NOT release this information. I don't see why people still think this. The Miles camp/supporting boosters leaked the information to the media in order to drum up support for Miles and make Alleva look like more of a douche than he already is.
Joe was so spineless, he decided to leak stories to the media in an effort to "drum up" support for his decision to fire Les.
Miles is no idiot when it comes to PR. Even Shaq showed up supporting Miles at the aTm game, then he turned around and bashed him a few weeks later! LSU fans will want one thing and say another to save face.
Big wigs at ESPN have been kissing Les' arse for years. He and his camp knew exactly what they were doing releasing that information to the media, and they were right. It saved his job. I wish he put as much into the passing game as he does saving his own arse and making money.

Les Miles' record in November since 2012 is less than .500 and that is why he was all but fired.

Hell no. Miles to ESPN with him on one side and Mack Brown on the other.

Chief should be worried about his own job status. He's going to be unemployed after this season when A&M fires Sumlin.

This is because of the 0-4 against bama.
8-4 minus bama.

Character? He and his agent leaked the rumors to the press so he could gain sympathy. This is only a Few years after using the Arkansas job to get an extension. Rest assured the mans number one priority is himself. And that is perfectly ok. But let's not act like he is some moral beacon.

this. the "chief" speaks with forked tongue. he's a sore loser.
I much prefer Aranda and Miles has got it going again; something Fulmer didn't do.

Documentation please.
And your drinking buddies don't count.
Give me provable documentation.
Or admit that you have no clue.
Put up or shut up.

You can talk about money all you want. However, coaches also look at political atmospheres. Getting canned takes its toll on coaches and their families. Sitting in a shite show political mess also takes its toll on the same folks, not to players, recruits, etc. I am not the biggest Miles fan, but I appreciate him more than some we have had. Rein, we'll never know. Cholly Mac, not a bad coach, but the game had passed him by and a number of his assistants really did him no favors.
Stovall and Archer were both good guys but not good head coaches. Arnsparger was a good head coach, but got tired of the shite show politics. Curley....... he did not make Brett Farve, Brett made him. DiNardo set the stage for Saban and could have been around longer, but too hard headed and replaced a good defensive coordinator with that idiot Lou Tepper. Saban, not the most congenial, but won a NC, and after that you knew his time here was going to be short.
You could do a hell of a lot worse than Les Miles and there are big time schools who would jump at him if LSU cut bait.

Fulmer did win the East the year before he was fired.
Fulmer also had losing years two of his last four and finished in the top 20 one time in his last four years.
By comparison, Les has never had a losing season and his teams have been ranked in the top 20 three of the last four years.
Anyone comparing the Fulmer end to what is going on at LSU is a retard.
And lets not forget, Les has won more games in the last five years than Saban won in his five years.

With the way the NFL draft has gone, Mississippi has put more players in the NFL than Louisiana the past 2 years. Illinois more than LA this past draft.
Per capita doesn't mean shite in the grand scheme of things. American Samoa has the highest per capita players in the NFL.
