Well, he is not the best DC in the country, but he's a very good 1. Lot's of criticism thrown his way now, and that's fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if A&M becomes a very good defensive team in the next couple of years, at least by year 3.

Chavis isn't one of the best DC's in the country go look up his stats in 2013 when the defensive talent wasn't out of this world and tell me more about how great he is

I have a better idea how about I look up his stats from his 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 season.

You obviously aren't able to put aside your Chavis butthurt and look at things in a calm, reasonable manner.

Nah let Steele do that shite and I'm gonna say the same thing.

We don't even sniff victory over Alabama last year without that whale of a performance by our defense.

We don't. Yet we also don't win the game because Chavis let Bama punk him in the end, AGAIN.

So we're gonna put the Bama game on the defense? The same defense that held them to 13 points and less than 200 yards in regulation? Really?

No doubt that was a team loss, but Bama knew exactly what Chavis was going to do on the FG drive and ran it to perfection. I don't put the ultimate blame Chavis for the loss, at all. But stating that having to stop the #1 team in the nation on it's final drive was an "unnecessary strain", frick him and the horse he rode off on.

Actually I think that is probably a mis-characterization of what he said. Winners don't make statements like that.

The stats from when he had Peterson, mathieu, Claiborne, Reid, etc? He was blessed with possibly the most consistently talented run of defenses in NCAA history. There are literally hundreds of coordinators that could've done what he did with some of the best defensive backfields ever assembled. Sorry that you're apparently a complete dumbass and can't grasp that concept

the defense was on the field because the offense turned it over. if the defense is having to be on the field because the offense turns it over, then the defense becomes tired. you say "don't give you the D tired", but I don't know how this isn't so obvious

Two of those drives combined to go 14 plays and 5 minutes total. If the D gets the 3 and out they should have on OM's game winning drive TOP likely ends up 30/30.

like I said, this isn't that hard.

it's isn't that hard, go dig into the drive chart for that game and you'll see that you're largely wrong on the "tired" angle.

as lsu2006 said

pot.kettle.black

and yeah, Miles should probably be a Chavis fanboy too. he prob wouldn't be employed here still if it wasn't for Chavis' defense bearing the weight of those downright atrocious offenses.

bullshite.....he wanted a years guaranteed salary regardless if he was working or not at LSU---it wasn't about "job security". The "clause" was not outrageous, and Aleva made the right decision.

Because LSU is still insanely talented compared to every other team in the SEC except maybe Bama, and there's that TOP thing that I mentioned earlier that usually leads to statistically strong defenses. Hopefully you're just trolling and you're not legitimately this clueless

good thing our defense was able to keep it to only being down 10-0 after 3 first half turnovers.

LSU has had great defenses since 1936. Long before ChieF WAS BORN.

absolutely, but there was nothing about the first half turnovers that should have rendered the defense "overworked" for the second half when LSU's O scored 24 points. Maybe the offense scoring that much in the 2nd half put an "unnecessary strain" on the defense which caused them to give up the 14 play drive at the end for OM's game winning FG.
