I would imagine how aTm is trying to structure the buyout. If they pay it for him, it must be considered taxable income to him, correct?

Lol at Cheif, the dumb frick is getting hammered for the amount that basically represents the extra money he is making.

What Alleva said in that presser is gold! Imagine the circumstances where chief and aTm were all smiles and chest out for this caper, only to have alleva go national with a big "frick you" announcing there is a 400k check to be paid. Our lawyers were on this WAY before the bowl when rumors surfaced about sumlin approaching chief.

Lol, I LOVE it!

How do you owe $400,000 grand and you get to pay monthly installments with no interest?

Because that's the way the contract was written.

Kind of like if you qualify for 0% interest for a car loan you might not have to pay any interest on the principal over 5 years. It's all about what's offered/in the language.

Seems to me according to article, he doesn't owe LSU anything. He resigned Jan 5, within 11 months of contract end, no buy out action. Alleva got wind, tried to force by sending letter prior to Dec 31. Move on, no buy out in site.

On Jan. 2, Alleva sent a letter to Chavis requesting the coach pay a $400,000 buyout. In the letter, Alleva writes that LSU is owed the buyout because Chavis broke his contract before Jan. 31, 2015. Chavis’ deal did not have a buyout if he left during the last 11 months of the deal.

Your attempt to slam Alleva has backfired in your face. The deadline for the buyout was not dec 31 it was jan 31st.

Didn't LSU stiff aTm in the 90's on a game and allegedly owe them money for that?

How many did Chief take us to in all the years he was here?

Wait till College Station gets a dose of 3rd and Chavis and the aptly named 2 minute DRILL.

So if he isn't officially a coach at Texas A&M, how can he be legally recruiting? Isn't that a violation?

I wouldn't worry too much about his "recruiting."

. I agree. Alleva sent a letter before Chavis resigned demanding $400K... when Chavis didn't owe anything. That sounds like a hostile environment to me.

I would also like to see the contract, because the article only mentions e-mails from Alleva.

There are 12 months in a year. Technically, when he signed, it was outside the 11 month term based on Dec. 31, 2015 when his contract ended. He would have had to wait to sign in February to be within that 11-month time-frame.

Wow
I expect the douchebag act from the Aggies, but from Chavis? Nope I truly thought he was more of a stand up guy, like the 2 line letter to Miles. Are you kidding me, last time I checked Chavis was out of work when Miles hired him, and LSU paid.
What a douche.

I could be wrong but there's something over there that just breeds mediocrity. I see them being something like ole piss and moo state typically are like.

Doesn't matter if he's been officially named or not, the guy has taken multiple pictures with recruits and the TAM coaching staff in kids homes and at their schools. That means he's either on the staff officially, with the NCAA, or he's the stupidest street agent in the history of recruiting. One way or the other TAM would be in serious violation of recruiting rules and would be in big, big trouble . I don't know all the legal crap but sometimes it just plainly comes down to good, old fashioned common fricking sense and if the law overrides fricking common sense then what good is the law. Chavis is on the TAM staff and by my calendar it is prior to Jan 31 so he owes us 400 grand. Anyone saying different is either stupid or lack common sense.

aTm will find a way to pay the money.

33,333.33/mos. for a year is a drop in the bucket for that school.
