Forget the CC off the field issues. Base it strictly on physicality. You can pick one of them for your team. Who do you take?

Cecil.....they actually aren't far apart in my mind, it would be great if we actually had more than a couple of games Cecil played in to compare, but I guess you could say the same of Scott

I realize you have to measure a running back by more than just size and 40 times, but just to compare the tangible attributes of both. Scott is bigger. Scott blocks and catches well. I am assuming Cecil was faster, but I don't really remember. They look pretty close to me. What did Cecil do that is/was so much better than Scott?

For the 2-3 games he played, Cecil was the best RB I have ever seen play for LSU. I go back to the days of Joe Labruzzo to Brad Davis, Robiskie, Alexander, Hilliard, Harvey Williams, Faulk, Mealey, DD, Toefield, etc, and none of those guys, great as they were, could match Cecil.
If Cecil had stayed out of trouble, we would be talking about him and Hershell Walker, Bo Jackson, and Marcus Dupree as all of them were similar to Cecil interms of style, talent. What a shame.

i dunno about that...he was like a 4.55 guy

scott seems to run about that fast, if not faster

Um, yes. It's right there in my post. Kind of obvious.

I happen to think yes, but I could be convinced otherwise. The only reason I chose CS vs. CC is because they seem to be similar in build, speed, running syle, etc.

Cecil could have been one of the best best ever at LSU.

Cecil Collins was just tougher to tackle than any other LSU RB I have seen.

My wathching/following goes back to C. Alexander, I did not see Cannon, Taylor, Stovall, Robiskie et al live.

Collins hands down. Besides being a freak off the field, he was the most dominate RB at LSU, I have ever seen.

it's not just that why i am asking. Other threads have been talking about Charles Scott being the best RB that LSU has right now. I was just trying to get it out in the open. To answer your question, Charles Scott is good, and his body of work so far is larger than Cecil, but there is no denying that the two games I saw cecil play in, there hasn't been a more exciting back besides Faulk that I can think of being better. I think if CC had more games, there would be no doubt.

Cecil Collins would have gotten that yard v. UK.

From what little we got to see of both, IMO CC's straight line speed may be similiar to Scott, but he had a superior burst, had more wiggle in his hips, and was tougher to bring down

I agree with Tiger 10S, Cecil was a full grown man. Salem shut his arse down in H.S. though. Go Spartans!
