Maybe they are incompetent.

Are you seriously going to compare the two situations in their entirety? For your sake, I hope not.

No. LSU clearly thought it was elite when it hired Nick, but now it considers itself a loser because it hired Ed Orgeron. The world's problems are now solved. Congrats guys.

God, how old are you? I'm tempted to feel sorry for you due to your lack of intelligent thought. However, if you're ten or eleven years old, there may be hope for you.

The fact that you cannot even distinguish between the credentials of Saban (when he was hired by LSU), and O is pretty appalling.

You are "appalled" by LSU hiring a football coach, and you are questioning my age. How precious.

if he goes:

2017: 7-5
2018: 7-5

2019 he has to win big or he is gone.

my thought exactly....for every 10+ win season he buys himself another year... SEC Championship and playoff birth gets him a 3 year extension.

No, I'm appalled by your inability to compare the credentials of the two (I'm also now appalled by your lack of reading comprehension skills (but I'm not surprised by them)).

In trying to think of this objectively:

-he is not an established winning head coach. but people take different paths to where they are. I will give him a chance, as he has said and done the right things thus far.
-he is an established recruiter. talent will continue to arrive. however, potential can get you fired.
-Ed realizes that he must allow coordinators to do their jobs. this is great, and i believe that coordinators will line up to come here when Canada, and/or Aranda move on.
-the dangerouse part of the HC not having a specific "system" and leaving it up to the coordinators is that Ed cannot miss on a hire in the future.

Time will tell...

O's lack of true football expertise and philosophy and inability to really guide either side of the ball is a problem if we want to be an elite consistent winner.

I having trouble trying to figure out what side of the ball Les' expertise was in. He was the most successful coach we ever had lol.

Yes, he is. His problem was that he failed to keep up with the game. His philosophy and expertise were no longer completely relevant or applicable.

His efforts (and apparent belief that he could) hire Kiffin suggests to me that he is in over his head and is capable of terrible judgment on hiring matters

What? As much as you hate Kiffin he was one of the top OC's in CF. Add to the fact that him and O have a history together.

4 year minimum, barring any NCAA violations or legal issues
bullshite. Let him go 8-4, 7-5 and 7-5. No fuching way he makes it to yr 4.

O is an incredible recruiter and has unlimited resources at LSU. My big issue with the hire is he absolutely has to have top flight coordinators constantly. He has a high floor but I just don't see the ceiling being that high where as Herman may be the next Urban Meyer.

Only time will tell.

Why?

Only an idiot would not know that Les was a former OLineman, and that he had experience as an Offensive Coordinator. You're trying to be cute, but exposing your stupidity.

Again, he wasn't fired because he had no philosophy.
