Hopefully they will end up going to the major league core after 2015 and give it even more pop then the new minor league ball. More offense will make it fun to watch again. Does not have to be gorilla ball again but need way more production then this past CWS.

They should have switched for this year imo.

Should just use wood bats IMO if they are going to change anything

That's what's so frustrating. No change was needed

Hey SC didn't have any trouble scoring? I agree though should of left 2009 bats alone just dumb IMO. Will end up ruining college baseball. But we need to adjust to it get our guys to battle the pitcher, those are the most frustrating to any pitcher. But yeah there wasn't a absurd amount of HRs that year but you could still beat a team with power. Nothing wrong with that. Now there are hardly any HRs and that's absurd in its self.

they can't rules on are on a two year cycle. Only things about safety can be changed from year to year.

I still protest that the 2010 bats were perfect.
In 2010 composite bats that would perform better after breaking in were banned.
In 08 and 09 composite bats drove numbers way up.
I believe if the composite bats never happened, the extreme change to wet noodle bats wouldn't have happened.

My opinion.

I can't believe we hit a Homerun today. Now it's a surprise when you see one.

With the big guys we have this year we are ready for the new ball. I am afraid we going to have a lot of long fly outs and will be forced to play some small ball.

I am anxious to see how the game will play with the new ball next year.
Hopefully the new ball will bring the perfect balance we are all looking for in the game.

I want to see homers.
Just not homers from 5'4" short stops off the handle of the bat that go ten rows deep to the opposite field.

I scanned the thread before teasing the OP, and I have to admit, I couldn't do better than this.

Kris Bryant still clubbed 31 and half of ULs roster hit double digits. I'm excited for the new balls as well, they'll impact regular season but it won't Chang a thing in Omaha, the issue there is the park.

Kris Bryant is an elite talent. Will probably be the best power hitter in the bigs for a long time to come if he learns to be more selective. That's a big if, but he has that kind of power.

ULL is built for power. LSU has clearly gone small ball under Mainieri. WE were an extremely tiny team last year, which meant we depended on errors, singles, and running to score runs. I know everyone did to an extent, but we really only had 2-3 guys in the lineup last year who had a decent shot of being able to hit a double in the gap to the wall.

LSU had a great year last year, but the lineup does need to get more balanced size-wise to have some more pop. (double pop, not HR pop)

For comparison, here's the average size of some of the top offensive teams' lineups: (+UCLA as they won the CWS)

ULL--------6'0 201
UCLA-------6'1 206
UNC--------6'1 192
IU---------6'1 207
USCe-------6'0 197
OrSt-------6'1 205

LSU's lineup last year was really tiny compared to those: 5'11 185. Throw out Jacoby Jones who was way above the average, and it dips to 5'10 180.

This year, LSU's lineup does have a little more size to it, which should bode well for us next year. Average size this year is 5'11 194. Ibarra really brings the height down. If not for him, we'd be around 6'0 195, which brings us close to those other schools in size.
