Lol, we've only played one SEC team. No my man, that shite doesn't work when they don't respect the players running it. There is no diversity like what you saw at Pitt. Only thing we do is that there are 3 guys that run the jet sweeps for us. We do a lot of window dressing and run a basic arse play. Does nothing for us.

Orgeron: First thing Matt (Canada) said this morning was the need to simplify things (motion and shifting) #LSU

Wont fix the problem with the lines.

Yeah, you know what is scary about that thought? I'll answer my own question; they have only played one SEC defense and that one isn't even top 5 in the conference.

Every time they are shifting and motioning, the defenses seem to be totally unaffected.

I agree completely. The defense does not move through all the shifts. The one time I saw the defense move with the shifts was the touchdown run by Williams. There was a shift to the left and then back to the right. The defense went with them and it seemed to clear out the left side. At least, that's what I remember. Somebody could watch the film and either confirm or correct.

Can't remember when it was, but on one of the sustained drives Etling was in for he made quite a few quick underneath throws that worked well

Etling completed 10 passes.
2 td passes
2 inside shovel passes, which are basically running plays.
2 dump offs on 3rd down well short of the first down, which are basically throwing it away.
Of the other 4 completed passes, 3 of them were good throws with a clean pocket and a nice pickup, and the other was a dump off, which i'm ok with when it's not 3rd down and you do it.

He completed 6 good passes against Syracuse on 15 attempts, was sacked twice, and scrambled 4 times, once for a first down. 21 drop backs, 7 plays that resulted in something positive.

I believe the concept is to see what type of defense they are in by how they react and then have the option to change the play to exploit that. I feel like we're missing the 2nd step.

Exactly. We gather information and make no adjustments. For example, we hard count on the goal line, exposing blitz, then run exactly into where they showed blitz resulting in a safety. A run to the outside or quick hit pass where the linebackers came from seemed so obvious.

Agreed. The pre-snap motion sometimes causes the defense to shift as well. This creates uncertainty on our inexperienced offensive linemen as to who they should be blocking. The pre-snap motion is used in an attempt to confuse a defense but in reality it's negatively impacting our on offense.

it's a bit cringeworthy to watch, honestly

This. It's like watching a triple-option team trying to come back from a 28-pt deficit in the 4th quarter. It's a gimmick that makes you look foolish.

If we need to get more simple than we already are then we are screwed. This statement shows me that our players are falling way short. Not just coaching.

This offense is no diffferent than what we've seen over the last 10 years.

What's still concerning about this is Canada is saying that and not Orgeron. It is little things like this that show why the CEO model doesn't work. Jimbo shouldn't be telling Bobby what to do in the postmortem. Bobby should be instructing Jimbo on how to play a complimentary style of offense given whatever the inherent limitations might be.

I think is the correct answer. Cleaning up the offensive line play will make every part of the offense look better.

Demonstrably worse and we haven't even hit the meat of the schedule.

He shouldn't be responding is the point. He's ostensibly the leader.

Less is more. Especially when more is more obvious.
