The guy lost his starting job this year. Once teams got film on him he regressed just like Harris as we got deeper into SEC play. He had one month to prepare for 1 game and then like 8 days for the next.

Yet he still won them a Natty.

Continue on about JR sucking and beaten out by MR 2 years.

Don't confuse yourself that JR and MR only played one year together and that was JRs RS FR season. JR threw for 2400 yards and 15 TDs as a SOPH.

What??? Why not blame Miles for recruiting Rettig, who ended up being pretty crappy, then he quit? Who do we blame. And he doesn't get blamed for having a backup plan of only Jennings and Harris? Who would you blame?

I blame the kid for not keeping his word. Miles got Lee to campus and into spring practice as a 5 star QB. Rettig flipped days before signing day. Its hard to scramble and pick up a guy in a matter of days. These 2 along with Harris were arguably the 3 guys we were stacking up to start for the next 6-7 years. Blame Miles for losing them but credit him for winning with younger or lessor talent. It's not like we lost 10 games each year. We can't have it both ways.

we need to establish a better system than waiting 4 years for good qb play..

we need to have quarterbacks in the system and READY TO PLAY by the time a guy graduates or leaves early..

this is the difference between us and more successful programs

I think you need to google who Hayden Rettig is. He was at LSU and transferred.

You're embarrassing yourself.

Name one QB that LSU has developed since 2007. 2007 was Flynn who had 4 years under Jimbo then started his RS SR year under Crowton.

Name me that QB in the last 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 seasons. We've had 3 SR QBs in that timeframe. Go ahead and say Mett so I can at you more.

The Qb at clemson has gotten a shite ton of reps as a freshmen and is also running a spread where its much easier to run the offense. nice post OP

So maybe LSU needs to try an easier offense.

It's kinda funny.

Rettig was tGOAT, too bad he never played at LSU. Stephen Rivers was tGOAT in waiting.

15 TD's as a Red Shirt Soph as in a 3rd year player. 9 Td's 1000 yards as a second year player while splitting with Randall bc he couldn't win the job.

Harris had 12 TD's 1900 yards as a second year player.

Regardless, whats the option? Start Jennings again? I think this is what we get with a young QB. He's actually progressing at a very similar rate as JR but he didn't get the option of a Redshirt Year.

Even worse, Mett came to LSU already with a lot of reps under his belt. Then he sits the bench in 2011. Yet STILL struggles in 2012. It's pretty ridic that an NFL talent QB couldn't step right in to this offense in 2011 or at least 2012 and have good success right away.

Am I taking crazy pills? Rettig showed up. I watched him in the Spring game. He sucked. Then, he quit and transferred.

I give him credit for recruiting a helluva defense, and some unbelievable playmakers, like TM7. But your OP premise is that it takes time to develop qb's, not debating the win/loss record. On that note, I ask you again, have you seen 2 years worth of improvement with BH? 4 years of improvement with Lee? Jefferson?

I'm confusing Rettig with the kid that went to Notre Dame and ended up the starter at Cincy. His name escapes me right now.

Rettig and Rivers were the project QB's we recruited that might develop over 4-5 years. Sorry I can't remember the kids name.

Lee was having an awesome season until Jefferson pulled the pictures.

What was the kid that is at Cincy now? That's who I'm talking about.

EDIT: Gunner Keil...not Rettig

Yeah I don't think anyone would argue that experience helps a QB. The problem is either LSU QBs are always young, or they aren't improving as expected with experience. Bc the passing stats have been putrid outside of 2013.

You're talking about Gunner Kiel?

And Lee was having an adequate season at QB. He was serviceable. But awesome? Come on man. We were winning because of defense and special teams. He was doing enough to not lose games, until Bama. No one ever felt like he was an awesome QB that we could ride. And he was a SENIOR.

I don't remember him being awesome. He was playing well except for Bama, if I recall. But considering he was a senior on a great team, the passing game was ok but not special.

If that what you think then fine, but that's not the reason for the scaled down playbook.

I agree. Bama had 5th year senior last year and now a 5th year transfer (can't give Bana credit for developing him since he transferred in according to rant i.e. Les doesn't get credit for Mett.

LSU will have Junior with experience next year and I expect great improvement.
