No.

They are perfectly designed to stop an offense like ours.

Change our philosophy with an Ohio State, or Clemson, or shite even an Ole Miss or Tennessee and I believe we beat them regularly with our players.

We make it impossibly hard on our players to be successful with the type of offense that we run. Especially against a defense like Alabama.

You misspelled QB development and ability/inability to get the TEs and RBs in the passing game

Both teams have been building their programs to beat each other ever since Saban got to Bama.LSU has had their chances to keep the series close while being out recruited and outplayed at QB.
Miles understands that he must beat Bama or the championship is lost. He does his damnest to hold them off his recruits and is all in during the two weeks prepaing for them. Its a tough task but he plays to win the Natl title each yr which means hes has to beat bama. Thats job 1 during season.
But the #1 recruiting classes have just been too much to keep up with yr in and yr out especially the guys that they continually get on the interior line. There were a few of their recruiting classes that were just sick. Ohio State is putting one together this yr.
This is Miles' best team on paper since 2012.But winning the west next yr is still a daunting task.
But Im ready to see the LSU defense intimidate others and see competent QB play once again. If that happens i can live with the results. Sometimes the football gods smile on you and sometimes they dont. See ohio state the past 2 years.

Coach O. told the truth on this matter...although no fan wants to hear "the next year" blabla...we won't have the depth that the 3-4 needs on DL until next year...but we're almost there...and out staff is getting the job done currently for sure! But IF tv makes his grades this summer, we'll be one step closer...jmho

I think you'll see a lot of hybrid looks this year because of this

I don't think they're interested in handicapping the success of the team to set us up for next year when the 3-4 personnel is better.

I am more worried about coaching match-up.

Arden Key is not even going to be a factor in this outcome. No one under 270 pounds will be. The question is: Can our three dlineman hold the line? If they can there's no doubt that Key, Beckwith, and our other LBs and DBs can win the war.

They can but they are gonna need more help from the offense. You can't let Bama dominate time of possession or it's going to be ugly in the 2nd half.

I def. think we can on both sides of the ball this year.
Last year our d line was small and inexperienced. Our O line had their asses whipped from the first snap because Bama didn't have to worry about a passing threat. They only had to do run blitzes and after about a half of that, our o line was done for.

None of these are Les Miles strengths...but, super nice guy.

I think we can hang with anyone in the country, the better question is will we. I don't think LSU ever really lacked in the talent department the past few year.

This is the best D-Line depth we've had to go against a Bama O-line in a while. I also think Aranda's ability to confuse Bama's O-line could have a big impact.

O-line is a bigger question mark after last year's display. We'll be in year 3 of Grimes with his guys developed. This area determines if LSU wins IMO.

One overlooked fact is that Bama will bring a new backfield (QB/RB) into Tiger Stadium. We've seen TS noise and a stout LSU defense fluster Bama offenses multiple times. I think we'll have both this year.

Has LSU been able to matchup in the trenches the last five years?

The answer is NO

ABSOLUTE BS. First off, 2011 season is within the last 5 years. Second, we were at least equal in ALL of the games aside from last year. Bama arguably had one of the best, deepest, and most experienced front 7's of all times last year, and THAT is what made the difference.

in 2012 we absolutely manhandled Bama in Tiger Stadium. they had exactly ONE decent scoring drive. the other 2 were 2-minute drill drives before each half.

You must not be watching the same 5 years as me. I can only remember 2 games against Bama in the last TEN years in which our team was outclassed and never had a chance. 2013 and 2015 at Bama.

However, it is concerning that those two contests are pretty recent.

And yes I'm intentionally omitting 1/9/12. Bama did not pull away until very late in the 4th quarter, and one break could have swung momentum in our favor. Plus, we defeated them earlier that season.

This guy gets it.

Every year we get hopeful and say "Oh Bama lost this and that, we'll easily dominate this time around" and every time it's the same. A'Shawn and Jarran made Pocic their bitch play in and play out.

The major problem is that we play to Alabama's strengths. We don't spread the ball out or use our speed, any team that goes spread on Alabama gives them a hard time and instead we just line up our I form and run right into their throats.

2 out of the last 4 matchups Alabama has had to score late to either win or put the game in OT. One was a gift personal foul call by the official when we could have run out the clock...so yes we can compete!

Absolutely. We have always have been unless you want to keep running a RB into an 8 men front. The front 5 can only block ...5.

Very confusing post, to say the least. You are in Louisiana, your blog name says you hate Alabama, you're talking about "us" when you address the LSU football team, but your favorite team is listed as Alabama???
