Can we get a fat slow guy that stands in the pocket and goes through progressions like a, you know, actual quarterback?

He developed one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in college football history in Randle El.

If all you're hanging your hat on is ARE, we're in trouble! He was such a "good" QB he was moved to WR.

Instead of forcing a square peg in a round hole, I think we should focus more on getting a single threat QB. Even that would be an improvement.

Randle El moved to wide receiver because he was 5-foot-9. He would have been given a shot in today's NFL. He was a heckuva college player and his development was just fine.

Thank you to those answering the question and not being grammar police. The responses scream your age.

Everyone saying El, El was his only DUAL threat QB....but became a wr. Being buddies with Miles will keep him safe at LSU.

Yes, every great college QB becomes NFL legend.
Some realize the NFL is about a roster spot and profit, not pride

Curious... what do you feel makes coaching a DT QB more difficult than a pro style?

So basically no qb should go play for urban Meyer.

Got it.

In all seriousness, when has Cam Cameron not effectively developed a QB. Sent multiple QBs to the NFL as an assistant at Michigan, Gus Frerotte went to the Pro Bowl with him as QB coach, Randle El, Brees, Rivers, Flacco, Mettenberger. So, his track record has him developing a QB wherever he's been yet now he can no longer do it because of a first-year starter with an incredibly young offensive skill group? Man, tough crowd. It's like people think Cam has been here for a decade and responsible for all past QB struggles.

Drew Brees was a dual threat QB coming out of college

He developed into one of the best pocket passers ever

Actually I imagine Scam would have thrived with CUM plus had the NFL arm and measures.
ARE not so much, and very scarce DT QB roster spots in his time.

My point was he had great college qbs that didn't do shite in the NFL. So saying cam can't do it because randle el played wr in the nfl is the same thing.

Who gives a shite what Randle El did in the pros? Cam used him at QB in college and he was a beast at QB, in college.

Cameron has developed exceptional DT and Pro Set, plus LSU doesn't play on Sundays.
Silly question in OP and wonder about these fans. You figure they'd have googled Cameron by now.

Drew Brees. Was a dual threat in college. Cam taught him how to harness it for the NFL game.

Shea Patterson for the 2016 class, is like a slightly more athletic high school version of Brees. Of course Brees doesn't have the same athleticism he had 15 years ago, but I'd say Patterson is like a quicker Brees when he played at Purdue. Patterson is also similar to JT Barrett at Ohio St.

People can say all the bullcrap they want about dual threats and spread QBs not fitting the pro style system, but it work. Ponder, Manuel, and Winston are the three previous QBs that have played for FSU, and were all dual threats. Cam needs to let these guys loose. We play way too conservative even as a pro style team. Harris just needs to put in the work needed, and he'll be alright.

I think the question that should be answered is can they (LSU coaches) identify a QB talent in highs school that can develop as a div 1 QB. Then, can they convince him to come to LSU. I'm not convinced they can evaluate and recruit QBs successfully. UGA usually has a couple five stars at a time on their roster. Not all QBs at the high school level can translate to college and LSU seems to have a knack for picking those types recently. There's a reason Mark Richt didn't offer The current LSU starter.
