Can a college team have open tryouts to find a kicker?

this late in a season?

Could they add that person to the team if they found a pounder that could consistently kick it out of the end zone?

With trade deadlines looming we may have to see what happens in the draft.

they say they have one, Gamble, but the kickers are told, however bizarre it might be, to kick short of the goal line

I'm pretty sure you can. If I remember correctly, a few years ago Texas Tech had a field goal kicking competition during halftime of one of their games to find their next kicker.

You are so wrong. Why would they be told to kick short when they can't cover kicks? If Gamble could kick touch backs easily, why would they squib kick? Just an awful evaluation by the staff, inexcusable really.

Then why isn't Gamble kicking off?

Miles and his "BBF/BBQ-Buddy" must have a reason that he isn't being used.

BTW, hind sight is 20/20, but re-hiring the bottom half of the Dr. Milesenstein created "Mallveto Monster" is bad Karma for the program.

Never should have happened. It's not working out. ST's are dysfunctional. It's not personal either, it's business. BDP is not getting the job done!.............

OK, so LSU COULD have open tryouts and see if they could get a walk-on kicker?

There are tons of High School kickers that can boom it.

Why do that when can spend scholarships on last place punters and kickers.

My sources told me that kickers were asked to make more funny videos instead of practice.

Why are we still on this? Bottom line is this.

1. Trent is KO guy primarily because of seniority,

2. Trent kicks OOB, gets replaced by Cameron

3. Cameron kicks the exact type of ball Les wants, but can't pooch that well

4. Les puts Trent back in to pooch because cover team can't do their job

So in other words.... If Les wants a ball out of back of endzone, Trent can do that but that is not what Les wants ..... If he wants a high hang-time dropping at the 5, (which he does) Cameron is the man... But our cover team can't handle it.

The problem is Les is being dumb and should wait til cover team can do their job before trying the high short kick. He needs to just let Trent blast out the back of the endzone..... And while he is at it, he needs to put Colby back on FG/PAT duty.
