I simply meant that if a guy is on our roster and he's the best player at his position, he should play -- regardless of whether there's an FR, SO, JR, or SR after his name.

Novel concept.

Are you under the impression this isn't happening? Maybe you have a misunderstanding of the word "best".

Thanks, I'll take RG3.

Why do you act as if the onus is on me? It's not my problem if the talent pool isn't amazing, since I'm not the one being paid $4mm a year to be a football coach. All I can comment on is the production that Miles get out of the most important position in football, and it's generally mediocre at best. It's a big flaw of his that it seems he either can't recruit the right players or build the right system around them to maximize production and mask deficiencies, and it's a shame.

Why don't you go ahead and compile similar lists for UGA and Bama?

How come HArbaugh brought in two 4 stars in 2015 and 1 highly ranked 4 star for 2016?

Harbaugh brought in the #295 overall player and #175 overall player in 2014 to play quarterback and holds a commitment from the #174 overall player in 2015.

Saban brought in the #79 overall player in 2014, the #21 overall player in 2015 and #278 in 2016.

Miles brought in the #75 overall player in 2015, received a transfer from the #290 overall player in 2013, and has a commitment from the #48 overall player in 2016...

I fail to see the discrepancy between the three. If anything, Harbaugh trails both Miles and Saban by a large margin.

Mett in 2012 was worse than Lee in 2008 and Jefferson in 2009.

While Mett was very slow out of the box in 2012, beginning with Bama he is no way, shape, or form anything like JJ/JL. He ripped a good Bama D for 300 passing yds and almost had the same amount the next 2 weeks and all those were vs. SEC teams.

The Mett of 2013 started in the latter part of 2012. imo.

The concept is still the same. Of course the coaches have access to what happens in practice, but that doesn't disallow a 3rd party from being able to critique their success. LSU fans that watch every game have an extremely good sample size from which to evaluate how Miles does in developing QBs.
The fan gets about an hour each week. The fan only gets to see what the coaches call. They only get to see the plays executed against whatever defense the opponent calls. It might be a vanilla game. Almost assuredly, less than 30 passes per week.

The coaches get about 20 hours each week. They can call whatever plays they want to see executed. They can call all pass plays. They can run it against whichever defense they want. Or they can run pass drills all practice and see short, intermediate, or long passes in whatever amount they want.

The coaches can ask their QBs whatever questions they want about whatever QB function they wish. They can give them hypos and ask the QB to read the hypo defense. They can quiz them about literally anything. The verbal interplay between coach and QB dwarfs anything the fan can obtain through a limited interview by a third party.

Why were we in the situation wehre we had a helpless QB and a true freshman? Could it be that this coaching staff has failed in evaluating QB talent? You wanna know how to gauge whether a QB from GA is good? See if he has an offer from Mark Richt.

Alright, let's talk about resources... in our typical recruiting grounds, how many Top 10 high school QBs have been produced in the last 10 years?

why can't we be like Bama or Harbaugh at Michigan so far and recruit outside our typical recruiting grounds. Besides, I don't know if you knew this, but our neighbor, the great state of TX, has produced plenty of QBs. You might know one of them by the name of Drew Brees.

I'm with you on this one! I really like Harris more than AJ but if Harris hadn't separated himself by now........... Lord it's gonna be a long season!

If work ethic was Harris' #1 issue last year than we should expect the coaches to keep pushing him not matter what.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, no? That would make you and Art Briles the only CFB coaches in the country to offer him a scholarship.

2005 - LSU ranked 24th nationally in passing efficiency
2006 - LSU ranked 5th nationally in passing efficiency
2007 - LSU ranked 53rd nationally in passing efficiency
2009 - LSU ranked 19th nationally in passing efficiency
2011 - LSU ranked 19th nationally in passing efficiency
2013 - LSU ranked 7th nationally in passing efficiency

In other years, you have:
2008 where you're pairing Gary Crowton with redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee
2010, where Gary Crowton failed miserably at making Jordan Jefferson into an option QB
2012, where a now unemployed OL coach was calling plays for a first-year starter with no QB Coach, and
2014, where a true sophomore QB with 29 career pass attempts was throwing to receivers with 7 COMBINED career receptions.

Zach Lee.
Gunner Kiel.

Yeah, that Josh Dobbs kid sucks.

I guess we're arguing two different things. Overall, the buck stops with Miles. We know he's not immune trying to force some assclown offense with the wrong guy (Jefferson on 1/9 being the most obvious and egregious example).

We had an 11th hour decommitment from Gunner Kiel from Indiana and hold a commitment from Feleipe Franks from Florida. I'd say we've been expanding our horizons for some time now.

Who played for Purdue, arguably the greatest CFB program for producing quarterbacks.... 20 years ago.

The point is, with our recruiting footprint of LA, TX, MS, FL, and GA, we should be able to find some good QBs.

These three have already been discussed ad nauseum... Mark Richt got Matthew Stafford, Jim Harbaugh got Andrew Luck, Chip Kelly got Darron Thomas, and Jim Tressel got J.T. Barrett... all of these coaches and programs are extremely highly regarded.

We got one of the best in the country two years ago out of our own backyard, have a commitment for next year from one of the top players in Florida, and another for 2018 from one of the top players in Texas.. Cam is lighting the recruiting trail on fire like we haven't seen since Russell/Flynn/Perrilloux.

Is he a proven commodity yet? Plus, he doesn't fit Richt's offense. It's still a pretty damn good rule.
