There's nothing more retarded than when your opponent is going for a game winning touchdown right down by the student section than to play a song that has the students make as little noise as possible and waive their arms around.

I'm sure our opponents love when we play neck.

You are wrong sir. I went to LSU in the mid to late fifties. I went to Tiger Stadium for games starting in the late forties.

Those games were attended by gentlemen and ladies and we knew how to have a good time and celebrate loudly without the juvenile antics of modern day 'swaggas.'

You young folks these days who think the highest form of expression is some vulgarity make me sad for out future. Vulgarity has its place - like when you are with friends or drunk in your own trailer.

But to think that mass vulgarity in public - where some alumnus may be bringing his 10-yr old daughter - is acceptable just shows you have no capacity for a thought originating from any organ above your gonads.

I love people that talk about how things were in their day and about "kids these days". Who the heck were the parents of these kids? They are the same people that complain about their behavior.

People also have a tendency to remember what they want. I might agree that the late 40's and 50's were a different time, but I only have people from the era to take at their word.

I'm not as old as you, but I was a student at LSU over 20 years ago. Today's students don't sound that far off the mark from what went on during my years there.

I'm not condoning the behavior, but it is what it is.

I understand this. I have 4 kids. We don't sit near the North Endzone! It's much more sanitized where I sit, but I do warn them beforehand about what they might hear and see.

At the end of the day, it's just words. I support the university in its efforts to protect its image, particularly on TV. However, it's just words.

Most of our beloved LSU songs are swiped from popular culture. I don't care if it's Cameo or a Broadway tune. Once it gets played regularly and there is some sort of crowd thing going with it, that's where the tradition starts.
