I once played in the National Baseball Congress's 12-year-old baseball "World Series," and the Team Ohio that year was from Dublin. Good times, good times...

Their secondary is pretty bad. Better than last year when they got abused by USC, but not by much. The vertical passing game will be there if JJ can capitalize.

That's the problem. He can't capitalize. He'll stand back there until the pass rushers sack him, or he'll throw it a mile off target. We simply are not a threat to win a game by passing downfield. That's why teams so consistently stack the box, stop the run, blitz and jump the short routes when they play us. They know Jefferson can't make them pay for it by hitting the big play downfield.

If Penn State has any defense at all, they'll win.

Believe that both teams will come well prepared to play but LSU will win going away late in the 3rd.

When have you seen LSU win "going away" recently?

LSU should win by 14. Should. I haven't been impressed with Penn St when they've had the chance to shine, while LSU has shown flashes of greatness (and some not so good )

LSU 27
Penn St 17

Well 2 things on the above....1) yes, LSU has flashes of greatness (briefly) - more struggles than anything else. And 2) 27-17 is 10. Not 14. But as an attendee of our 2007 NC - we watched the OSU cheerleaders lead their team on the field to the four flags spelling - O O H I....not Ohio. So I wonder about the education system up there. Other than that = a good post. Well constructed and considered. Don't think Clark is "all that and a happy meal" but he's got "some" game. QB play is roughly even....if our OL can stop false starting and our WR get lined up properly, we might even move forward on a drive.

LSU 27 - Penn State 20

It may come down to Josh Jasper kicking 9 field goals.....

I said they should win by 14, not that they will. I even italicized "Should."

Thanks for the math lesson though, hopefully you found my reading comprehension seminar equally beneficial.

PSU was really non-existent in their two loses

? We dominated Iowa most of the game (as we did last year.) The blocked punt return for a TD changed the momentum and our offense went to pot in the 2nd half (thanks to their defensive line reversing the trend of the first half and owning us up front.)

Ohio State was a terrible game for us all the way around. We should've been shut out. The biggest problem in both losses was the offensive line not being able to handle the defensive lines of both teams.

If LSU's defensive line wins the battle up front we'll be hurting.

I agree with this to a point but Clark >> Jefferson or Lee IMO.

Oh and we've done very well against SEC teams in bowl games not named Florida or Alabama (8-5 overall.) We can prepare well for a bowl game. Ask Tennessee (who we are 3-0 against in bowls.) We are also 26-13-2 in bowls (and most of those are under JoePa) so it's not like this is our first rodeo.

I've said before the top of the conference there is no doubt SEC >>>>>>>>>>> Big 10 but when you start nitpicking down the line it gets a little more evened out.

I think it'll be our toughest game of the entire year (Bucks included) and I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond to the challenge.

Interesting post. Haven't seen the Nittany Lions play this year. Of course, everyone down here hates the Big 10, so it will be hard to restrain the "conference v. conference" discussion.

Great post!

i respect Penn State. I also guarantee that Les will have the Tigers more than ready to play.

His bowl game record speaks for itself.

Well said. I have nothing against the kid, but I just don't have the faith in him that some on here do. He hasn't shown me much in terms of his ability to think on his feet, especially under duress. Instead of stepping up into the pocket to avoid the oncoming pass rush, he'll take the sack almost every time.

As I wrote in another thread I have known many PSU alumni and attended a game in their stadium. They are every bit as emotional and committed as LSU fans. Anyone who thinks that Penn State is not going to show up ready to play some smash mouth football had better take a time out and then think again.

I do not think that Penn State is going to show up ready to play some smash mouth football, and moreover, I refuse to take a timeout, or to rethink my position.

I look for a close game. If it starts to get out of hand we will utilze the Chavis Prevent that always keeps our opponents within striking distance.
Our offense compliments the defense and our OC will be sure to throw the ball to allow ample time for you catch back up. Crowton will surely mix in some special plays, such as the Delay (of game), the 4 Wide (all in motion at once)and the oft used Unbalanced Set (our best 10 vs your 11. We can hurt ourselves in a myriad of ways so I look for a competitive game.

I disagree, Doc, but I guess one of us will be proven right and the other wrong. I'm not saying that the Lions will prevail. Only that they are damn sure going to show up ready to play football.
