good for him, but I hope this doesn't hurt his career

seems extremely early for him to be a head coach

Blake Dean once hit on my cousin in Tigerland by saying "Google Me" when she didn't know who he was.

I would be cool with Blake Dean banging one of my cousins

So we have a former Tiger coaching at UNO, a former Green Wave at LSU, and a former Privateer coaching at LSU. Way to keep it instate.

To be fair, Mainieri went to LSU too.

Will UNO play Fireman as his walk out song when he visits the mound?

He taught me how to love a woman -- and how to scold a child

Good for him. You got to start somewhere.
Good luck Blake.

I doubt we hire a guy from UNO, even if he use to play here. I suspect when Paul Retires we may try to go after O'Conner from UVA.

I have been thinking that if Paul retired when he wants to and not forced out, he will try to get LSU to hire O'Connor to replace him. He has the great record as a HC at UVA and now a Championship.

There's a former Greenie coaching Southeastern also.

Congrats to Blake on the new job.

Luckily, he knows a few good people to call if he needs advice.

I'm glad for Blake, it says a lot about him that he's hired at such an early age for HC. But am wondering why Davis was not hired instead, as he has a lot more on his resume than Dean. Could it boil down to just money? Davis has to have a above decent income from the baseball camp you'd think.

I read somewhere he may have turned it down too. Not sure if it is true or someone helping him to save face a little.

Will Davis was a volunteer assistant that was passed over as an assistant twice. It's hard to go from a volunteer assistant all the way to a Head Coach. He needs to find someplace that will hire him as a paid assistant first.

UNO athletic dept is the poorest in the state, I'm sure they got Dean at a big time discount compared to other candidates. I hope he can do something positive over there but the deck is stacked against him.
