Gainesville Airport - under 10 miles.

Jacksonville Airport - about and one and a half to two and a half hour drive, depending on when you are making the drive. Game day, probably longer because of the traffic heading into town.

Anyone know the rules with generators? I know some places are strict on no generators unless they are attached to RV but We are planning on setting up my LCD, a satellite dish and probably the Wii. We have a Honda ultra quiet so I dont think it'll be much of an issue but just wanted some reassurance before hand.

And I will second the comments about Lawtey, Waldo and Starke being notorious speed traps. I travel b/w Jax and Gville every weekend and I've never not seen someone pulled over down 301.

Waldo is the worst, because there's so little there that you don't realize that you're in town. I have gotten lucky driving through there on more than one occasion because the cops were busy ticketing somebody else when I came speeding through.

I can just about guarantee you that the cops will be looking to make some money off the LSU fans driving through town. Be careful everyone.

Waldo is the town some guy put up a huge sign over the front of his adult store calling out the county sheriff back in '06. Apparently the sheriff was harassing him. Don't know if anybody remembers it. I can't remember exactly what it said, but it was pretty funny.

I am not sure if this has been addressed, but what is the deal with drinking on campus during a tailgate? We will have 3 people of age and one 20yr old. Keep it in cups and you will be fine?

For what?
Decent food on Archer - I recommend Ale House for the variety and good prices. OR head on over to the LSU Alumni Tailgating on Stadium Rd. by the baseball field. LOTS of food and plenty of kids.

Couple of things, hope it's not a repeat as I am not reading all those pages.
If you are getting there early to tailgate you should park at Norman (free), 13th and Museum, right across from sorority row. If you will be a late arrival you can pay to park at 13th and University or park for free near the engineering buildings, across from the Reitz Union.

Another good bar for live music, and of course drinking, is Lillian's (downtown).

Finally, I am sure it has been said but I cannot stress this enough; NO OPEN CONTAINERS! Use a solo cup, or similar, and do not walk around with anything on the city side of University Ave.

Give me some advice. Was thinking about parking in the Publix Super Market shoping center on the corner of SW 34th St and SW 2nd ave and hiking one mile into the stadium.

Would this be a good idea to hike back out a mile after to avoid some of the gridlock around the stadium after the game or is there a better strategy?

We want to get out to some sports bars ASAP after the game.

Thanks for any help!

not a bad walk. walk up 2nd till it wraps around to university. that will walk you by a lot of the sports facilities.

when you leave, go right out of the publix parking lot, then left right there on University. On your right side, a mile or two down is Gator's Dockside. Its set back from the street, so it is hard to see. Its right by a movie theater and a marble slab (could be coldstone)
