The Olandeaux Alumni, Tampa Alumni and what used to be the Krewe of Ragu, set up shop on Stadium Rd. behind center field of the baseball field. O'Connell center was open for bathrooms. I assume we will be there this year. The band pulls up next to the spot and comes down and plays a couple of songs. Lots of DJ/music, food, and fun.

Is this open to all alumni? What do we need to bring? Food? Beverages?

for the cap one bowl last year, they provided the music and the space, but you were on your own for beer

OPEN TO ALL LSU FANS
Food is there. Bringing your own drinks help.
Bringing finger food (cookies, brownies, etc.) would be a plus! If so, bring disposable containers.

Oaks Hotel

Anybody familiar w/ this fine looking establishment? I booked it a few months ago. Looked a little suspiciuous, but so did a lot of the hotels in Gainesville. I just did a quick search and I've found a couple places closer to campus, but for a little bit more. Not wanting the ole lady to get too pissed off at me for saving a few bucks and sleeping with the bed bugs.

I don't stay at hotels when I am there, so I am clueless on that one. but judging by the adress, you are only a couple of minutes away from campus. the street that the hotel is on turns into University Ave, which is the main strip

Are there any hotels along the interstate between Lake City and Gainesville? We stayed at Lake City when we went in '08 but I don't remember if there was anything closer without actually staying in Gainesville.

Newberry and Archer are closer towns on the other side of the interstate, but I don't know if they have many hotels, if any at all, but worth a shot

What time would you recommend getting there if we are in a RV? Univeristy says 6 PM Friday but I hear other say the lot fills by 3 PM on Friday.
Any advice???

I just hope they don't have the gay festival this weekend. They did that in 2004. Not a good mix of people

Just be careful with how early you start up the party there. Those buildings on the left and right of those woods are student dorms - students who will most likely be hung over from the night before. I was an RA in Tolbert for several years, and the police were called out both in 2006 and in 2008 ticketing people for noise violations before 7am. They don't mess around with the "On-Campus Quiet Hours" at UFPD

I think that the RV lots don't let anyone park in them until after 5. I park in some of the lots used for RV's (for school) and we always get notes on our car that all cars must be out of the lots by 5 or so on the day before a game. Around 5 there is a huge influx of RV's all over campus, so I personally would try to get there before that.

Before 7am? Wouldn't know, but that seems reasonable.
I know that we were there at 10am and I never saw the police until a drunk Gaytor tried to walk through the band while they were playing. He was "rescued" before he would have been a dead gaytor!

My advice for anyone rolling into Gainesville during the gameday ..try to be there by 1pm at the latest and better to be in town by 9-10am to get set up...avoid the crowds.
If you drive down 301...watch the town that has a 4 to 1 ratio of cops to residents and they are all relatives feeding off tourists at traffic traps. Waldo is a criminal enterprise.
