Dak was anything but a superstar when he got there. That's part of turning a program around. Coaching up players to the point that they become superstars. One common theme at LSU is that we get superstars, we don't make them.

No I get your point. You think Mullen is benefiting from having a once in a lifetime QB. I agree to an extent, but also have eyes and can see that they have the best DL in the SEC this year. He's had to recruit and coach those guys too.

and Dak wasn't even being recruited as a QB by half the schools who offered him. It's not like Mullen stumbled upon Eli Manning.

A QB that wasn't good enough for Les. A qb that has taken his lumps along the way and finally come into his own. He wasn't good last year but his coach has put him in a position to succeed. Their D speaks for itself after shutting down an A&M O that has been torching teams this season. These things are products of good coaching.

my first list of calls would be
1. Shaw
2. Franklin
3. Rich Rod

then followed with a call to muschamp as DC because he is getting fired. We also have to strike before the next good coach is taken. Could have avoided this if we booted les after the 1/9 game.

Agreed. And he's finally done that. The point I'm making is that I'm not optimistic he can continue that for an extended period of time. He finally has a team this year, and it may continue for year. I just don't think it will

It's just funny to me that everyone is in love with Mullen after his entire MSU career had been average at best.

Unfortunately I agree

Go after the big names.. Let them turn you down .. We won't get the big names unless lsu makes a proactive move.. If lsu goes 0 for in the sec, lsu has to pull an auburn and go in a different direction ..

Longevity in success has to do with location and caliber of coach.

Mullen hasn't benefited from being at a bottom dweller program. I personally think he'd flourish in the right situation.

The AD couldn't fire Miles if he wanted to, so it's a moot point.

No AD at LSU is ever gonna fire a football coach again. TAF's gonna take care of that.

TAF ain't gonna do shite. Barring some kind of subversive campaign, Miles can't be forced out anytime within the next several years. If he leaves, it'll be of his own accord.

If miles don't change this offense ( which I don't believe he will) then he has got to go. I am not sure if it's being bull headed or just stupid , look at nc game against bama, u know he would have gotten big bonus for winning but he continued to run same play over and over , saban had to laugh at this. Just watching auburn game , u never knew is qb going to run or throw, or hand off, with us me , u , the other team all know what is next. I don't even know what to think about defense, maybe a change all the way around is needed.

yeah, I don't disagree. You could be right about him. I'm really not trying to bash the guy. I understand the situation. It just seems like a ton of people are in love with all of a sudden. It's not he turned them around in 2-3 years. It's been a long time, and even the fanbase was ready to get rid of him

Personally, I like James Franklin. I don't know what he'll do at Penn St, but I think that place is practially a dumpster fire at this point. They may never be again what they once were. I just know he got Vandy to what, back to back 9 win seasons? That's not supposed to happen

The best coach that would turn our annual Top 5 class into winners is.....DAVID SHAW!!!! Our next coach has to be an AFRICIAN-AMERICAN

What the frick kind of stupid shite.......I don't even.......what?

Don't get me wrong....I am a David Shaw fan...but it should not make one single frick what the color of skin is of a potential coaching candidate.

As long as he is a leader, and has an offensive mind!

I would say a better comparison, is Tennessee with Phil Fulmer, he had one bad season and they shite canned him and then went through a shite storm.

I'd cream my pants with a James Franklin hire

and don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing for Mullen by any means. Just message board talk. He's not leaving to go to another school in the same division anyways.

Was Miles on the radar in 2004?

I mean maybe I watch too much college football, but he fielded some fun to watch teams at Okie state. Before he got there they went to 1 bowl in 12 years. He went to bowls in 3/4 years and beat OU 2/4 years when they were at their peak under stoops. Gundy has only been able to beat OU once.

My list would be as follows.
Art Briles-Who knows if he will leave Baylor at this point
James Franklin-iffy on whether hed leave PSU at this point
See if Harbaugh wants to come back to college-unlikely
Rich Rod
Ruffin McNeil

Bottom Line: Without the buyout money, there is no new coach. Doesn't matter how bad things get either. Louisiana State University is up the shite creek without a paddle thanks to their AD.

We gonna be on the cover of Sports Illustrated soon with a football version and close up photo of Grass Boy. (Instead of Dale Brown)

"Crazy Days Part 2 at L.S.U." It's coming.....

I'd be interested in David Shaw also, but not because of the African American thing. I like the way he runs the Stanford program
