Someone texted me to see if I could help.

Luckily I’m at home on maternity leave and was happy to procrastinate my to do list to help a future tiger band piccolo!

There’s too much positive energy for this to be on the rant.

Well the OP posted on the Rant as opposed to the OT...

this would fit better as a positive OT story rather than something on the Rant, but we accomplished the mission...

thanks picc

The running joke in tigerband was that if LRM could teach a trumpet player to play the obligato, we’d have been gone pecan.
ALL-BRASS Tiger Band.

Pics and Clarinets. Get off the field, Those are concert/symphonic instruments.

I missed LRM by a year or two, but I think me and her would have synched up pretty good......

Cool! Were you a former piccoloner for TGBFT?

Love the piccolo-- did any composer ever write a concerto for piccolo and orchestra?

Extremely NSFW, but for one of my all time favorite jokes, search for Gene Tracy piccolo player.

I was. Me and Les started the same year. Was so much fun—had some really cool experiences that I’ll never forget. And as you might expect, it’s unreal to be on the field to play pregame. During those years you couldn’t hear anything…especially some of those games in 2007 (UF, auburn, arkansas). I’d just play my best, count and hope to not miss the TTR. I never screwed up during pregame (bc if you did, you could be pulled as there were many alternates sitting in the stands) but can’t say that much for halftime.

And to answer your question about concertos… yes. I love the piccolo too, it’s a very sweet and pleasing instrument unless you’re in the dog whistle octaves. Vivaldi

I love Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. It has a prominent role for piccolo-- just one of the best pieces ever.

Thanks for uploading the magnificent Vivaldi concerto. I listened to it all the way through-- the middle slow section is sublime!

No, I was just busy. Also, creepy stalker types doing creepy things didn’t help.

Sorry to hear that. This has to be the most clutch first response of all time. I was wondering if you would respond when I clicked the thread.
