Miles has publicly admitted that he is handling him carefully, putting him only in situations where he can't fail.
yet they have more confidence in him than Lee

This. 16 passes, 39 rushes. Thats 29% passing, 71% running. That doesn't exactly spell confidence in your QB. We're gonna need some passing touchdowns against some opponents.

You're right, it definately is frustrating. It starts with the coaches and goes down to the QB. It looks like we are offensively playing scared. That won't cut it against the good teams.

Exactly, scary huh? Not sure if that's a bad reflection on the coaches or Lee, though, since I don't go to the practices.
But, still doesn't excuse JJ from being a junior, and still have to be handled like a true freshman, right?

96 yards in the sec passing???? We need to at least average 200 against a team like MSS its a win but later on we will not be so luckly

Having one of the worst passing games in the country isn't looking for a reason to bitch.....it IS a serious reason for concern. That won't get the job done against the better teams in the conference.
We're averaing less than 100 yds passing per game after 3 games. There are over 100 college football teams that are performing better than that. With our talent, we should be doing better.
Just because you don't like hearing the truth, doesn't mean it should't be said. The 1st step in fixing a problem is admitting that you have one.
Just beacuse we are 3-0 doesn't mean we can pretend like everyting is fine. That's at least true for those of us in touch with reality.

Exactly. WTF?
I mean, Miles has us relying on defense and special teams while trying to play merely mistake free football on offense. I mean, I wish the hell we would have taken the kind of chances that potentially result in 5 interceptions. I saw another thread comparing JJ to Jamie Howard. In our dreams. Remember how awesome Jamie Howard was? I mean, he took CHANCES. So what if he threw 6 interceptions? It's because he went balls to the wall for victory. I miss Jamie Howard's lust for the end zone. JJ is satisfied with merely making safe plays.
So, rah rah, we won. Big flipping deal. We need to take chances. State almost won because they took chances. Jefferson is so damn timid. He didn't take any chances at all tonight. God I hated that. Take more chances. Gamble. Be like Jamie Howard, for crying out loud!

you forget where you are. you are in a land where many have no objectivety; a land where once they make up their minds, they become blind; a land where perfection is demanded; a land where reality is not an issue.

I don't expect perfection. I do however expect a passing offense that is not ranked 110th out of 120 teams, which is pretty much where we'll be after this game.

Wouldn't really knock him, but wouldn't praise him either. The offense in general has to improve.

From an objective standpoint, do you believe that JJ is performing at the caliber of an SEC or National Championship caliber?
Posted on 9/18/10 at 10:41 pm to diehardfan
Diehardfan has got it exactly right. The best thing that I can say about Jefferson--and this is actually a very good and important thing--is that he has not turned the ball over and put our defense into a bad position. But as we move further into the SEC schedule and start playing the big dogs, this will not suffice. We will need to be more proactive offensively, and I am not sure that Jefferson can generate points against the best defenses that we will face.
Think about it. I would expect Alabama to score at least 20 points against us, even with our superb defense. With our current offense, I can't imagine us scoring 20 points unless Bama's defense falls apart. We have the talent to generate points even against a great defensive team like Alabama, but our offense is not using that talent effectively.
