Did we not have the same number of preseason top 25 teams last year? And quite possibly the year before?
Yes. A lot of pretenders in the past years though. I actually think USCe, UF, UGA, Bama, and LSU are all very good teams and i just don't think anyone will go through the conference and championship game undefeated this year. Too much bunched on the top. Last several years i thought Bama and LSU were clearly the top. Not this year.
Not to mention i think one of the middle tier teams (Ole Miss, AU, TN, MSU, TA&M) will win one big game against the list above

Never ever underestimate the willingness of pollsters to bestow undeserved honors on fricking Notre Dame.
Notre Dame wasn't ranked #1 in the Coaches Poll last season until they were the only undefeated team left. And in the first poll that they were the only undefeated team, they didn't even get all the first place votes.

Oregon and Stanford can't both go undefeated

I dont see how bama would even make it to #1 with their schedule say if they started out at 13 or so. Maybe after the LSU game but I would think LSU would have to be undefeated for that to happen . If a couple more programs were undefeated too they would be Auburn all over again when they got left out. With their scheduling starting out high is a must, i bet if they got left out like Auburn they would schedule some tougher opponents.

Will an undefeated team from SEC gain an automatic berth to the NC?

If LSU is undefeated, and so are those other teams...LSU is left out.

sorry guys, but given our brutal schedule and our losses on D, there's a ZERO percent chance of us going undefeated. I'm hoping for it like all Tiger fans, but let's be realistic.

yeah, they will. The media, ESPN, etc. cant wait to have a non-SEC championship game.

Might as well assume Kate Upton will give you one minute of wild sex.

I love when someone starts a silly hypothetical offseason thread. Then everyone comes in and tells him why his hypothetical situation will never happen. That really isn't the purpose of the thread.

Does anyone know when the last time 5 or 6 teams were undefeated at the end of a regulation season?
In that scenario, I think Ohio State , Clemson and Oregon would be given consideration but who knows where the hell all the teams they face end up ranked at the end. Wouldn't that make a big difference (at least it would for the computer rankings)
Anyways, way too many variables to make a real call on this

Yes. LSU would be in. The jockeying for the other position would be interesting though.
In a normal world where accomplishments hold weight - it would be LSU vs. Clemson. (LSU #1)
In this world - where being a name brand program is everything - it would be LSU vs OSU (LSU #1)
if the media had their way (and the 2012 Notre Dame debacle hadn't happened) it would be Ohio State vs. Notre Dame. (OSU #1)

A 1 loss LSU team leapfrogs any non-sec team.

While we are predicting, I also say Texas A&M self implodes and loses 3 or more as Johnny boy looses his team's respect.
Little Debbie is gonna shut that arse dowm in week 2, then every other SEC DC will follow the same defensive game plan and do it as well. After the JFF show implodes and Sumlin doesn't have an answer, A + M will sink like the Titanic.
This will also signal the end of the DTQB in the SEC.
The JennSwag/HarriSwag Jock Sniffer Clique will be and when Miles/CC announce in 2014 Spring practice that because of the remarkable progress of RS freshman QB Hayden Rettig, Anthony Jennings will be taking reps at both WR and RB, as will freshman QB Brain Harris (HarriSwag) when he arrives in the Fall.
"We really don't need our QB to be running and taking the risk of having his head knocked off by by an SEC defensive lineman or linebacker" LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said. "We have outstanding depth at the running back position, especially with the addition of the Fournette kid from New Orleans, so we're going to let the RB's do all the running and just have our QB's concentrate on the passing game, game management and distributing the ball to our play makers."
